Woohoo!!! Some good news at last (i think). Just received a letter from work saying they are increasing the pay for everyone following a merger from the 1st of october. Have done a little research and hope that, if I'm right, the amount of SMP i get will increase by about £4.50 a week! Then when I got back to work, I should get an extra £10 a week depending on whether I'll get taxed on it.

I know it's not much, but it'll mean i'll have a bit more money to pay off our debts, or I could even start saving for the kids!

I'm pretty sure the user ID is choclover. Definitely my typo of the day!

Payday yesterday, and the next (hopefully last!) payment on my DD for the loan going out on monday. My sharesave matures on the 1st of August, hope our share price bounces back a bit, but unless it goes really badly I should be loan free within a fortnight!
    DFW - DEBT FREEEEEE!

    Total - 10762/10762 :)

Every silver lining has its cloud.

i had hoped to be debt free by august/september but now its looking unlikely that ill make it my xmas either, however, i will be an awful lot closer to being debt free than i was last xmas so im happy with that.

its still doable but not likely so we shall see. im not letting it take over my life but im really focussed and committed so im sure some progress will be made.

today is day one of the summer holidays so far no spend. lol x

Lol :rotfl: is all I can say about this post! I'm not sure if the censors would let this username thru ;).

Well done Bonglecat for finishing the loan .

    Congrats Choclover on the payrise.

AffordmyLife - that's how I feel - even if I don't pay my debts off by Christmas, I'll be a lot closer to it than I was last Christmas before my LBM. I can't believe how much I've changed with regard to spending either - we've never cut back on our spending to pay off debts but have just taken out loan after loan to cover them . It's really good for me to cut back spending and get into the habit of doing this (even tho it's hard :o).

  • Good news -my son has got into a prestigious music school.:)
Bad news -the fees are A Lot.
And whilst we'll get a small bursary, they base it on salary and don't take into account your outgoings. So, on paper we have a good amount coming in, in reality we have very little spare cash. But, it's an amazing opportunity for him and we have to give him that chance.
So, not entirely sure we'll clear out debts as soon as I hoped. :(
