Hey everyone, it's my dad's birthday tomorrow so we had all the family round today for a buffet. It was actually a success which was a shock as family occasions are always really stressful in our house!
Running club tomorrow night which I'm looking forward to but I hope I don't feel so sick this time!
No debt busting to report, in fact I was really naughty and bought a garmin to accurately measure my distance for next years running challenge, however, it has something called a bezel to scroll between options and menus and it is just awful... I cannot begin to tell you how frustrating it is to use. I am seriously thinking of selling it straight away and just getting a stopwatch and will track my mileage online instead by plotting my route...
Anyway, I'll disappear and do some updating now! xxx
Which garmin did you buy? I've been thinking about buying one too but other option might be Polar now. Sorry, I must of missed your running challenge next year, are you doing a marathon?DEBT FREE OCTOBER 2012!Proud to have dealt with my debts!0 -

Thanks babble. Its really a working holiday, but it's a free trip to America in 13 days. Still can't believe it
PS 4 days till the long awaited payday! need to get to 4 figures!!!!In debt no more!0 -
Psychopathbabble – glad the op went well & well done on winning a prize too. Hope you have a fab time! PS Love the Cake!
Kerri - hope you’re having a fab time in Canada.
Camuk81 – I think we must be quite similar as I love your list too. There are so many things I wanted to put on, but only 10 options.
Jakes-mum – I’m with you on the Ipad love. I bought DH a refurb’d one for his birthday/fathers day & we are all fighting over it. It makes my iphone seem well small!:D
BrandNew Start – woohoo to paying off the ex. Can you not ask for the ring back ?(or is that not the done thing these days) I’m glad you are feeling more upbeat. Bon Voage for your trip to France.
Welcome to Tinks14!
Fritter princess – I know what you mean about the overdraft. I managed to pay mine off last month, but it’s so easy to let it slip back into OD with the odd little treat. I definitely think it’s the hardest debt to deal with.
We’ve had an expensive weekend, but thanks to my lovely mum who gave me some money last week, it won’t affect my debtbusting plans. I decided to spend £150 on taking DH to Liverpool for the weekend for his birthday. Kids were both at scout camp so it seemed an opportunity too good to be missed.:j I got a cheap deal on a hotel (and cashback too), and we just mooched around looking at the old buildings & the shops. DH had birthday money to spend & I was naughty & bought a dress for £5.:o We had a nice dinner out & a few cocktails ( in happy hour) & generally had fun! The money left over will bring my DFD forward a month too. Wooohoo!!:DWe also walked MILES & my legs are sore this morning – so much that I couldn’t do a full run.
My phone contract expires next Monday & I’m thinking of keeping my trusty iphone3 for a bit longer, and going on a 30 day rolling contract. The one I want with Orange is £20.50, but 3 do a similar package for £12. I’m a longstanding customer & really don’t want the hassle of changing provider so I’m hoping they will price match. That will save £20+ per month.:money:
I netted £14.63 after cost at the NCT clothes sale on Saturday which I’m happy with. My friend took everything to the venue & collected it & everything I sent to sell had been offered at other sales before & just needed relabeling. I’ve had a good sort out now & put a load of the unsold clothes into the charity bag, because I cannot face looking at it anymore.
My mission for this week is to try really really hard to lose weight. I need to lose 2lb to get back within my target weight range and thus saving £5 a week. It really should be do-able but every weekend there is something that derails me. (last week I put on half a pound) We are in London the weekend after next, but this week is quiet, so I really will try.
Payday today so I’m off to work out my figures & pay some bills…..10lb to lose & keep off in 20204.5lb/10lb:rotfl:0 -

Just hoping it doesn’t translate into panic attacks as it did to my friend who had to stop flying! Great news psychopathbabble! Will they provide some sort of staged return as you've been off for so long?10lb to lose & keep off in 20204.5lb/10lb:rotfl:0 -

I'm not sure, Mr S seems to think they should but I guess I'll have to ask them when I go in. My training is 7 days spread over 2 weeks so that's not too bad.Became Mrs Scotland 16.01.16Became homeowners 26.02.16

Which garmin did you buy? I've been thinking about buying one too but other option might be Polar now. Sorry, I must of missed your running challenge next year, are you doing a marathon?
I bought the 410 with HRM as it was only £140 from Am@zon which was almost the same price as the 110. I think Pedro has the 110 if you want to ask what it's like? Basically I've found it really difficult to use and setting up my profile as soon as it had charged was a nightmare. Worst was the date of birth where you have to scroll through year by year to get your year of birth... To scroll you have to run your finger along the plastic outside of the watch face (on the outer edge though, not close to the actual glass part) but every time I tried to scroll it just pressed enter instead to the next data to be input so I've move back to the year again and try to scroll back again and it would jump to another menu as it didn't register the scroll... I know that the initial set up is only done once but there are loads of menus to go through depending on what you want to track on your run and I don't think I can handle the scrolling! I don't think the 110 has the bezel though. There is a 610 which is touchscreen but it's around £230!!!
I decided a few months ago that I am quite good at long term challenges like this one but am pretty pants at any short term goal such as "I want to run a half marathon" cos I do only the bare minimum and as soon as the race is done then I don't run any more (or whatever it is that I was working towards) cos I have no goal/motivation. With this in mind then I decided that to really get fit then I have to have a long term running challenge so I am going to run 2013kms in 2013... This equates to almost 25miles per week every week of 2013...
I've started to plan races for next year which includes at least 2 marathons, 3 half marathons and numerous 10k's. Luckily I've ran 10k's and half marathons before so I know what to expect but that was 5 yrs ago so I need to get my fitness level back up...
Oh my word, I've really been waffling away!!!! Sorry!
Are you thinking of buying a garmin for running or triathlon or something?

Debt at Highest: £43,073 :eek:0 -
Jemma,
Yes, have been thinking of buying a garmin for running and triathlon but don't really want to spend loads of money. The 'square' garmins look huge as well and I don't have big wrists. Should really go and try one somewhere. I was wondering how good the bezel would be, I think it would do my head in as well if it kept doing that.
I'm training for my first half marathon atm and getting by with my android phone app and stop watch. Sometimes the app doesn't work though and it's bit annoying. Friend bought Polar FT7 which looks quite good and isn't huge, and is also reasonably priced. If garmin I was looking at the 410, but not sure now.
Did my first sprint tri this year and looking to olympic distance and possibly half ironman next year. And like gadgets that keep track of things you do so something is in order. Was going to wait till I was debt free (should be Oct this year) but have already saved £30 by doing surveys and stuff which is towards whatever gps watch I end up buying.
So are you preparing already for you next year's challenge? 25miles per week sounds good! I'm not quite there at the moment.DEBT FREE OCTOBER 2012!Proud to have dealt with my debts!0
