You can do it that way if you don't mind taking your suit apart. I make all my own patterns so I can get an exact fit to my shape. (no boobs, chunky thighs :o)

I'll have a think about fabric shops near you. I used to live in Gtr Manchester so I know a few up that end of the country.

Do you struggle finding suits or do you just want to have a go at making one?

Bought a great suit from next which was smaller in the front but had an integral waistcoat so when you button it looks extremely smart. It was made in grey but always though it would look good in pinstripe.

I think just fancy a go on my own. Can always start with work wear trousers and shirts from there. Bought a sew machine a few years ago but the only thing it does is hems and curtains and wouldn't mind doing more

Also I have just done a new diary entry. Here it is:

Hi guys, I haven't posted on my diary for quite a while as I have been just doofing along, working with not much to report on my debt really. However, I have just checked my account - I now get totals emailed and texted to me weekly in a bid to stop me doing the old ostrich behaviour - and it looks like good news! This time last month I was £879 overdrawn, whereas today I am only £525 o/d! There are no more DDs or anything coming out of my account until pay day on the 24th, apart from petrol probably next week - however if I cycle to work a couple of days I can avoid that! This is v good news as this is probably the first time O have actually gone forwards instead of backwards with my account for many, many years! I might even be able to post a more positive number to my signature on the 24th.

Strange really as I have some weird feelings around it. 1) I keep expecting some random cost or charge to come round the corner and hit me. 2) I have been having a bit of a "down" day (not helped by going to try on suits - my current one has a big hole in it - when I feel pretty unhappy about the shape I am in :(), so at least this shows I am getting some things right.

Also, I am due to renew my car insurance at the end of next month, and I checked online and the quotes are loads cheaper than last year - almost half it looks like! That will hopefully represent a big monthly saving, as my current payments are v high due to accidents etc. Another advantage to moving back with the parents is no longer having a Manchester postcode I guess. I also feel a bit weird about this, as if I must have been lying to gocompare or something. I haven't and it still has all my correct details from last year, so it must be correct, right?

Boof, why do I still feel so blue when all this progress is being made? And why do I feel like it isn't real and isn't going to happen and it's all a big lie??

Cor I thought this post would cheer me up but actually it is having the opposite effect... hmmm.

    Thanks for reading, anyway!

Happy Birthday Jakes-mum and to vw-campervan mums DS too :bdaycake:
Hope you’re having a fab day.

Isttimer – I am just the same. I get really into something & throw all I have at it, then I get burn out and give up.:o Not this time though – I am determined. I have had to scale back our repayments to make them manageable, but hopefully the fact that we wont be living totally as paupers will mean that we will be more likely to stick to the plan. Well that’s the theory……

Avlogirly – get rid of the watch – it doesn’t sound like you wear it & the value will be better spent paying off your debts.

Fallenwiccan – ooh I’d love to see Kelly Clarkson. I’m sure you’ll have a fab time!

Bonglecat – you’re doing so well! I really must start to look at coupons – I’m pretty frugal in most ways but never done coupons. I’m one of those that huffs loudly when the person in front of me at the checkout has a load and slows the Q down.

His missus – Lol at shouting at the wii fit man. I hope you’re feeling less grumpy today!!

Maddie – well done for getting back on track!

Camuk81 – I hope you start to feel better soon. I’m another one who went off to google your condition – it sounds really painful.

Kerri_ dfw - good news about your allotment and the dentist. I had to google bruxism too so I’m now medically enlightened! Hope the craft fair goes well today!

psychopathbabble – under 2K – that’s fab! I can only dream at that!

Well its been an expensive weekend for me. I needed to renew our annual travel insurance policy which cost £250, but I need to cover the children’s various ailments & travel to the USA too. We have more than claimed the cost in the last few years due to delays & dropped phones. I also needed to get some Euros for my trip to Spain next weekend & I probably got more than I needed really but I don’t want to fall short & use a cash point out there. I also had to buy a fancy dress outfit which is far too short  & then tights to try to hide my chunky thighs. I did have the money saved so its not an extra expense really, but I hate seeing my little savings pot deplete.

I’ll be away on payday (Friday) so I won’t be able to update til Monday or Tuesday next week, but I’m hoping this months figures will be good.

    Happy weekend everyone :D
