Dolly Rocker, you're not a fraud
my sister did something similar after her first child however I'd just paid off her debts to the tune of £2.5k and she got a loan for her surgery of £5k! Now she was a fraud as I'd have reduced my debts mahoosively with that money!!! However, it did make her feel much better after the surgery
xx

I agree with Kerri Dolly Rocker, you don't need to feel like a fraud for making your choices. If the surgery is really going to improve your happiness, then good luck to you.
Tbh, I feel the similar about quitting my job to move home for the summer before uni. I know I could pay off the debt quicker if I stayed, but being here is making me miserable, and I'd rather be happy and paying debts of over a slightly longer period than miserable and paying them off quicker. And I'd defo rather be in either position than where a was a couple of months ago (ie ignoring the debt and being miserable in my job!):A If saving money is wrong, I don't want to be right. Oh dear, this sounds really awful but my lightbulb moment came after a really tough time between DH and myself, and I realised we couldn't actually afford to split up. We seriously could not afford a divorce.:eek: It doesn't help that we're also in business together!
Things luckily are improving but at least not having debt will give us both options should it ever go pear shape again.
On a brighter note, had lunch with our accountant (also a friend) so got to have a good old money chat. Outside of the forum, there aren't many people you can talk to about all this are there?
Sorry about my depressing post!

Barbeduk - it is difficult to talk about money to people. I only talk about my situation with my Hubby and 2 closest friends. And all LBMs are different, I'm glad things are improving for you though x
:eek:Hubby has just realised we're having pasta for tea but we've no garlic bread in and we've spent the weekly budget. Apparently it is against his religion to eat pasta without garlic bread (can any catholics confirm this? we're all :rotfl: in the office at him) Dilemma...;)
EDIT: not a dilemma for me, want to see if he'll sneak £1 out of the savings jar or not0 -
His Missus, do you have any garlic and do you have butter? If so make your own garlic bread from the loaf you have at home heheDiary: Getting back on track for 2013 and beyondDEBT FREE 13-10-13 :dance::dance::dance::dance:

Ok this totally threw me offguard and i did go back through the thread thinking i'd missed something here, but theres only one post from you in the last 10 pageswhich was thanked 6 times and didnt contain a question or rant etc.
Sorry you feel overlooked, but with, what are we up too? 300 odd members, not every post will get a response and if you happen to post before someone who's having a bad day, rant etc people will rush to answer that person and make them feel better. Hopefully you wont decide to abandon the thread but if you do, I wish you well with your journeySPC No 002 SPC(3) £285/£250 (4) £519.84/£500 (5) £768.32/£500 (6) £911.30/£600 (7) £913.23/£600 (8) £1184.82/£750 (9) £2864.04/£750 (10) £3846.25/£1000 (11) £1779.72/£1000 (12) £1596.55/£1000 (13) £1534.70/£1000 (14) £775.60/£1000 (15) £700.20/£1000 (16) £2081.34/£1000 (17) £1691.15/£1000 (18) £225/£10000 -
I was actually going to reply to the next 100%er question saying I hope it is me but atm with me not working it's looking likely... but i wasn't posting at the time and it fell off the page so I forgot.
I wrote earlier about how I saved myself loads of money finally using the tesco rewards scheme... no-one replied to that but I'm not going to leave the thread as I still like the support and motivation it gives me.
Anyway whatever you decided, affordmylife, good luck
ETA: I did post further down but got distracted by the idea that the NHS might have to pay for me to go private with my operation.... sorry, you never asked me about that though but I didn't take offence!Became Mrs Scotland 16.01.16Became homeowners 26.02.16
