Oooh - I forgot to say that there is Debt news in our house after all. My lovely mum and dad gave us kids some money last week - enough to almost pay off my OD:j:j:j
I'm not adding it to my paid figure yet as I use the overdraft figure on the day before pay day as my debt figure for the month.
Yay for lovely parents:happyhear10lb to lose & keep off in 20204.5lb/10lb:rotfl:0 -
That's fab news Ruthy. ooh, see you're a mortgage free wannabe too, that's my next move.
Well today I WANTED TO GO SHOPPING so bad I can't tell you. But luckily I didn't have the time and won't have for the rest of the week by which time I'll hopefully be over it!
Anyone else walk around muttering 'I can pay it off, I WILL pay it off' or is it just me?
BTW, another 40 something here. We had disposable income in our 30s, we spent it all. What idiots we were!! It was fun though!!Make £2020 in 2020 £178.81/£2020

Well I went to the running club tonight and it was fantastic! It was only £1.50 and everyone was nice. We did a couple of laps of the track then did some warm ups and sprints for a while. Then we did a pyramid where you run for 1min then walk for 1 min, then run for 2 mins then walk for 1 min, then run for 3mins then walk for 1 min. You get the jist, up until 5mins running then you go back down again. Well, I'm pretty proud of myself as I didn't stop running once when I was meant to run!!! I'm a lot fitter than I thought, yay!
I've got blisters on my left foot and I'm totalling pooped now so won't be long out of bed.
My sister has booked us all tickets for tomorrow to go to the cinema to watch The Avengers film thingy. It's meant to be really good!
Hope you're all doing really well xxxNew Debt Journey: Pay off £19,622.91 by 30th April 2015 :T

Hi folks,
Barbeduk, Canucksfan and Ruthy1604, just letting you know that there's another 40-something in your midst
Hubby and I have had our ups and downs debt-wise. Sometimes dipping into debt and then clearing it and then repeating, but it's usually been because of a big purchase (such as a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Canada, which we repeated another 4 times) as opposed to senseless spending.
Out current debt is solely to do with emigrating from the UK, we were debt-free before we emigrated and we haven't accumulated any more since we've been here so I think we're doing okay.
I just want rid of it though , the majority of the debt is to Bank of Mum and Dad and until it's paid off I don't feel it's right for us to have a holiday or buy a carpet, and I desperately want a carpet :rotfl:.
Once the debt is gone (and the carpet has been laid) then I'll be doing a combination of boosting our Emergency Savings Fund, our ISA's and then overpaying the mortgage.
So I'm going to be doing this thrifty lifestyle, various challenges and hanging around this site for some time yet.
Debtfree, Mortgagefree here we come! :T0 -
Oh Kerfuffle, I agree with you 100% about the high cost of emigrating. Yes, we earn a lot more out here than in the UK, but the cost of property and day to day living costs are a lot higher too. When we were leaving the UK, we were in a hurry to leave once the visas arrived, as I had a start date for my new job. Well we gave away so much of our stuff, cos it wasn't worth shipping our beds and tatty, well-bounced on and well-loved-by-the-kids sofa. So the day after we came here, we had to do lots of trips to IKEA to buy the same stuff again!
Oh well, we are turning it around now aren't we...Thank God for this forum to keep me on the straight and narrow!
I liked the last line in your piece about being MF - am gonna use that as my mantra...v inspirational! x'You've got to tell your money what to do or it will leave!' Dave Ramsey0 -
Ok, so I have over £60 in my purse and another £10 at home. I'm owed £62 on Friday, so I'm going to declare another £50 off my total as I am refusing to spend the £50 note I have as it's so rare that I get them!

Wow! a £50 note! Can't remember the last time I had one of those, or a twenty for that matter :rotfl:£2013 in 2013 £866.71/£2013

RANT ALERT! Avert your eyes if you want too!
Morning all! Back gallavanting from Brighton! The weather was mixture. Half and half really, but we were inside watching bands most of the day so it was ok!
OMG I had a right game trying to get the hire car :mad::mad: Well I didn't in the end. I booked it with my electron card. Then when the t's and c's came through it said you need a credit card. Freaking out I rang them and the women said "yes you can use a debit card". Got there on Thursday morning and I couldn't use my bleeding electron card!!:mad: Understandably FUMING! She wouldn't budge, she said it was in the T's and C's but not on the main booking screen! SO WHY LET ME BOOK IT WITH AN ELECTRON CARD!! "well it's a different booking system she said" What a load of B0!!0$%S!!!:mad:
Anyway I had to spend £10 on taxis that day and had to drive my 12 yr old car 500 miles. Luckily she lasted!
The rest of the weekend was grand though and only spent about £120 which is good I think.
Back on the debt bandwagon now I think. Seriously falling behind!
Hope the rest of you are ok? Thanks for letting me rant!:D

looks like I didn't eat enough yesterday in preparation for my 1hr run. As soon as I ate my tea last night I went sick and cold and just absolutely drained. My friend was texting me and I couldn't string a sentence together properly and kept missing words out! I just climbed in to bed with the heater on full, bed socks and 2 jumpers and fell straight to sleep. Have woken this morning with a dodgy tummy, utterly exhausted and trying desperately to get some food down me. Consider this a lesson learned!!! If I didn't have meetings planned all week then I think I'd take a days holiday just to catch up on sleep and to rest as I feel really terrible!
I'm just going into a meeting now but will try and catch up later, unfortunately my younger sister has booked us all tickets to the cinema tonight but I just want to crawl in bed. She's booked it for 8.20pm as well so we won't get back home till about 11pm grrrrrrrrrrr
