I'll hasten to add my debt was small enough that I could pay it off in 2 pay cheques. so it wasn't that bad really but I have spent way too much on video games and comics over the years.:rotfl:
Anything spent per LBM is written off the slate. (please don't open my wardrobe, pleeeeaase!:p)
I don't think I can afford to take £50 off my ODnot until the £280 expenses come in. So will you all forgive me if I live on the £95 I have after bills from this expense bill, and I shall remove £300 from my OD when the £280 comes in
Drives you mad doesn't it, we all seem to live for making repayments now!BrandNewStart wrote: »Hi guys, nice to read all your posts this eve. I've just ventured onto some of the other MSE boards.... wow! There are some right nutters out there!

They are soooo rude and confrontational on some of the boards. It's nice here and on old style, like your favourite cafe :coffee: Although going for a latte is just one more thing forbidden at the moment.:(

Kerri, where do you buy your frames?
I've not been able to find the small frames anywhere cheaper yet either, really need to find a wholesaler I think.
Barbed, yes it really does grrr.
I'm late for going into the office, grrrr someone had me on the phone to them before I'd had my breakfast at 8.30 this morning. Luckily my project manager is buying me lunch and I reckon I can expense the train fare into the Cityyay :T

Sorry I've not been around much for the last couple of days but I've doing oooodles of research into both my business venture and a strange twist on my diet... Basically, I started reading a thread on myfitnesspal about eating more to lose weight and it's opened a whole new can of worms... I've been utterly confused as everything you are taught by the media/web/gyms/nhs etc is that to los weight you need to reduce your calories which is true but only to a point. On myfitnesspal I was programmed to eat 1350 cals per day. However, according to the research I've now done, I should never eat below my BMR of 1470 cals (Basal Metabolic Rate) and should eat around 1900 cals taking into account my exercise levels. My TDEE is Total Daily Energy Expenditure (I think that's what it stands for!) and this is about 2300 cals which is the total to maintain my current weight. What it's basically saying is that if you eat below your BMR then you are eating less calories than you actually need if you were in a coma (e.g. to digest, breathe, ump blood around etc). If you consistently do this then your body lowers your metabolic rate down and conserves the fat so has no alternative but to burn the lean muscle instead. Lean muscle is a furnace to burn calories so as you burn the muscle then your weight planteaus and people invariably either decrease their calories further or up their exercise (or both) and the cycle continues until you see some people who are only eating about 600cals per day and exercising 6-7 times a week.
What they are saying is that to lose weight you need to first reset your metabolic rate by starting to increase your cals eat day slowly until you hit your activity cals (for me, 1900 cals). This is still a 400cals defecit from my TDEE to maintain so I will lose weight. This will take about 4-6 weeks and I may gain weight in these weeks as my body is still unsure if I'm about to reduce my cals again and so stores any food as fat. The way to try and mitigate this is to keep to high calories, don't be put off by the scales (in fact don't go on them for a while!) and let your body trust that you will not deprive it of food again. At the same time then instead of doing cardio then do light weight training to build up the lean muscles as this helps increase your metabolism. Eating every 2-3hrs religiously will get your body used to the higher calories quickly.
Honestly, I have been reading up on this for days as I've only just been on the 1350 cals diet for just over a week so not long hence I don't think increasing my cals to 1900 (net of exercise) will make me gain a huge amount.
It has really made me rethink everything I thought about weightloss and the need for excessive exercise. I still have a lot of research to go but I've been reading testimonials from people on that forum who say that after 4-6weeks they have started to lose weight again and have ooodles of energy and feel that they have their life back. As long as they never go above their TDEE then they should not gain weight, just maintain.
I'll keep up the research and share it further with you in the next few days on my progress. Once thing I definitely need to sort out is my diet as it's pretty poor. They keep mentioning that you should have about 1g per 1lb of weight of protein with a large portion of it for your breakfast. Here lies my problem as I'm lactose intolerant and hate eggs. What else can I have for breakfast???
Sorry that this post has not been about debtloss but I just had to share this with you. There is a group on myfitnesspal called Eat More to Weigh Less if you want to have a look for yourself.
I'm currently in my bosses office pretending to work so better get back before he notices...! I'll have a proper catch up later tonight.

I was pretty happy with it, though I have to say its not unusual for me to haunt the reduced sections :rotfl: DH learnt early to just not come shopping with me (easily embarrassed) as I religiously stalk the person with the price gun
But as he always said, by doing it we always have some goodies in the house, even when we don have 2 ha'pennies to rub together
And just to add, DH went to work with 2 huge chicken and stuffing baps, 2 chocolate doughnuts, a banana and a bag of crisps, costing me the grand total of . . . 45p :rotfl: :rotfl: and I was totally blown away with my pack of chicken and stuffing for 10p, thought there was 10 slices in there, there was about 25 :eek:SPC No 002 SPC(3) £285/£250 (4) £519.84/£500 (5) £768.32/£500 (6) £911.30/£600 (7) £913.23/£600 (8) £1184.82/£750 (9) £2864.04/£750 (10) £3846.25/£1000 (11) £1779.72/£1000 (12) £1596.55/£1000 (13) £1534.70/£1000 (14) £775.60/£1000 (15) £700.20/£1000 (16) £2081.34/£1000 (17) £1691.15/£1000 (18) £225/£10000 -
Ok ladies who need to dust off your sewing machines, this cost me:
£1.35 for purse frame
50p ish for the outer fabric used
50p ish for the lining
1hr total time spent
picture
instructions
It'd probably cost about £10-£15 in the shops
:TIt looks fantastic, Kerri! Could it be stitched by hand? I'm useless with a sewing machine. I know it would take longer and probably be more awkward to make...
Jemma - a few of my MFP friends up their calorie intake for a week or so when they hit a plateau, never tried it myself, let me know if it works0 -
Then used me 10% off discount card so spent a grand total of £6.52 :rotfl:
Wow! that's amazing! No wonder I always go over budget with food! Seriously need to look at couponing
Went to Aldi/Asda on saturday and spent a grand total of £48.53, which hasn't lasted the week (as all the good aldi offers weren't there!) so have had to get a delivery from Asda today for another £60!
Plus on saturday I bought some meatballs that we were going to have that evening, I noticed when we got home they were reduced and were dated the 4th and it was actually the 5th. I wasn't going to go back to the store as it's an hour round trip to my nearest asda and didn't see the point for £1.78 or however much they were. I did send them e-mail to complain but so far haven't received one back
So at the mo I'm not sure if shopping at aldi is the right thing to do, might try lidl again next week as I hate Asda now, so am determined for them not to get too much of my money£2013 in 2013 £866.71/£2013

OMG someone fan me  just had the CC bill drop through the letter box with the holiday cost on it and got off me bum and went down town and paid it . . all £190 of it, in CASH, without my usual 'oh fick where am I going to get the money from' panic and the 'should I BT it, pay minimum and begrudgingly the interest or not eat and pay it all'
The money was there   I could afford my own bill :rotfl:SPC No 002 SPC(3) £285/£250 (4) £519.84/£500 (5) £768.32/£500 (6) £911.30/£600 (7) £913.23/£600 (8) £1184.82/£750 (9) £2864.04/£750 (10) £3846.25/£1000 (11) £1779.72/£1000 (12) £1596.55/£1000 (13) £1534.70/£1000 (14) £775.60/£1000 (15) £700.20/£1000 (16) £2081.34/£1000 (17) £1691.15/£1000 (18) £225/£10000 -
