Annie both HB and Farmfoods do the same loo roll. Its fab called Nicky. You can get different colours as such and really im X Andrew and its fab. It works out to be 18 rolls for £4. They also do Nicky kitchen roll. Do try it im sure you will convert to it. Im wondering if around 50 bottles of softner and a good 20 packs of nappies is something I should confess to?

re the Nicky loo rolls: yes I can vouch for them too! We get vouchers through the door from FF for £2.50 off £25 spend, £5 off £50 spend and if I remember rightly £10 off £100 so when my stash of loo rolls is going down (currently about 40 loo rolls - not packs - and starting to feel the need to replenish) I go and fill a trolley up with them, maybe few other specific bits too for £25 and get my 10% off too. I NEVER EVER buy from anywhere else or run out! :D

If anyone doesn't get these vouchers and spends a lot in FF, happy to post you some money off coupons.

Is this simply for money saving or for SHTF situations? lol

either or both! Us stockpilers tend to bulk buy when things are on offer or we have vouchers or whatever; to save trips to supermarkets especially if long journeys (I buy different things in different supermarkets so stock up on non-perishables at each to save going as often); some save by bulk buying at Costcos etc; some like to have a stash in case they have cash strapped period, particularly if your income varies; to save money by not spending more later on rapidly rising prices; in winter to save going out as much in cold and maybe snow. Maybe other reasons I can't think of? Because we enjoy it, feel more secure or just can't resist a bargain!

    Hi all,

I'm pleased to say that my compulsive stockpiling is pretty much over...for now.:D

It started years ago, little money, living rurally and not being near to any shops. It reached its height when Tesco coupons (may they rest in peace) :( made shopping a whole new creature and adventure for very, very little money.

However I found my stockpiling to be just compulsive hoarding which became out of control to be honest as I didn't actually know what I had.

I did have 2 freezers but now have one, although it is stuffed. I found that a ruthless decluttering of my food stores donated to my daughter and the residents of her shared house helped immensely also. I think they had over, at least, 16/18 bags of various food items given to them. This in turn meant that I could finally see what I had, what needed using up and what I needed to replace.

I do have a cupboard at the back of the garden shed though that has numerous bottles of handwash, shower gel, toothpaste and other stuff left over from my tesco couponing days. However I raid it as and when I need to.

If I'm honest I do feel a lot better getting a handle on the stockpiling, I also now buy what we will use rather than what is just on offer somewhere. I know we have at least 6/8 weeks worth of food, probably a lot more if I really think about it.

Although I do seem to have an extraodinary amount of evaporated milk for some reason??:o

I have ‘The Great Wall of Cat Food’ in our spare room. Our OAP cats have gone from own brand tins costing about £18 a month to expensive branded senior cat pouches costing about £70 a month (at normal prices) I discovered Mr S are doing 2 boxes of pouches for £5 (cost well over £4 a box at Mr T) and I’ve had several money off vouchers eg £2 off £20 at Mr S so have a wall of cat food. In fact planning to pop there again today as need other bits I get specifically at Mr S and if the offer’s still on, it would be rude not to partake me thinks!

People’s attitudes to buying essentials like food vary so much. I told a friend with an elderly cat about the offer and offered to get some for her as she doesn’t drive and asked how many boxes and she said, slightly puzzled 2 please. I said happy to get as many as she liked and no rush for the money ( have a decent emergency cash stockpile for shopping at long last too!) and she still only wanted 2 boxes.

I have a stockpile of toiletries and make-up but slowly getting through them and have managed to control my instinct to rush out and buy more. Also used to be an Avon Rep and never made enough to take commission as cash only as discounted goods. After giving lots away as pressies, still have a lot left though this is getting more reasonable now -though have about 12 eye creams, each lasts me about a year with careful use, cutting open tubes etc. but they don’t take up much space thankfully.

The stockpile of tins and other non-perishables bought for the winter months is not too big now and getting down to last 2/3 tins of baked beans, kidney beans, toms etc so will actually need to replenish soon. Though have masses of pasta especially spaghetti for some unknown reason. I think I will do this every year – gradually build a stockpile in the autumn for winter to save shopping trips and help us through winter/early spring when we have lots of extra expenses, bills etc and then just keep a few tins of each for the spring/summer.

Freezer could do with some stocking up but full of odds like reduced bread and leftover meals - not big enough portions for all of us or even just adults or kids so think will have to introduce ‘use it up’ meal nights – not way am I chucking any of it out!

Oh and stamps – bought a load of 2nd class at WHS when they had the 5% off deal. Will go and buy another load towards end of month before price goes up when I can see how much spare cash we have left before pay day. I use stamps far less with paying bills by direct debit etc but will still send lots of birthday, Christmas cards etc especially as all our family live a distance away so will save 16p(more for the WHS ones) for every single card I post from 1st May onwards

Does anyone get comments from other shoppers if you bulk buy stuff? I have had lots of friendly comments about having lots of cats when I go to Mr S and buy several boxes of cat food but rarely any comments when I fill my trolley with loo rolls at F Foods! :D

Thanks for the reminder on stamps, that's something else to stockpile but it's nice to be given the whole month to get hold of them for a change.

I'm only a proper stockpiler of non-food items, as well as stamps, whenever loo roll is down to £3 for 9 then that's a good price to get an extra pack. Kitchen towel, Sainsburys have those double-packs for £3 as a year-round offer so you get 6 at a time. For clothes washing Persil's 4Kg box lasts me almost the whole year along with two Calgon and 2-3 large fabric softeners so they tend to be annual purchases and then good offers or vouchers help me stock up further for next to nothing. For both computer and TV recording use I also check for 50 packs of DVD-Rs, £8 being the best price on average.

If I had a bigger freezer I'd probably be the same with food but prefer cooking it fresh, so I try to get at most, a week's worth. Drinks are a different story as they're sealed containers, but just heavy to carry home :)

Hi does anyone no of any cash & carrys open to the public, where anyone can use, with out showing employment details, having credit ratings checked, just where joe public can walk in pay cash and then carry, thanks:)

I use JJ Foods but that's because there is a depot near me.

    http://www.jjfoodservice.com/

I found them by accident as I was looking for cheap yeast to use in my bread machine. I discovered that the BM yeast is also known as Fermipan and costs £1.79 for 500g!!!!!!!!!!! Compare that to 99p for 100g in the supermarket - Bargain!!

I order and pay online for cheapest prices and go and collect from the depot. I have saved an absolute fortune since discovering them. I'm sure there are others but these are the ones use.

Found it at last! ASDA lemon juice. Reduced from 41p to 20p! Before Before date is March 2013. The KTC stuff (same size) is still 39p.

I now have £1-worth in the stockpile cupboard. Obviously, other people must've had the same idea.

I do use lots. I use it in cooking. I also drink it in water, as it's supposed to be an appetite suppressant. There is only one problem with this: it doesn't work. :(

    At least I shouldn't get scurvy. :)
