I have been running my stockpile down and will need to re-stock soon - We are off to Costco tomorrow actually. Having six adults to feed and wash for does mean that everything gets used up pretty quickly.

I have lots of toiletries and toothpaste though - all bought on offer. I really do not need any more for a good few months.

We have been stocking up on stamps most recently as they are about to rise by an extortionate amount. We use the post a lot so that will be a good saving eventually.
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
  • I was also a Avon rep last year and whilst I didn't buy bubble bath I did buy shampoos - enough to last 2 years. I also have hand creams, face creams and make up which I rarely use.

I am on maternity leave at the moment so when I see bargains I stock up - I currently have 6 boxes plus 3 packets of nappies, 3 boxes of wipes and I am awaiting my delivery of 3 x 12 toilet rolls ... I will still buy these weekly if they are on offer it saves money in the long run as they aren't always on offer.

I am currently using up my food supplies in the hope I can "start a fresh" building them back up again when I go back to work!

I have too much stockpile as well and I know we need to use it up to keep rotating the dates. But not all our stockpile is that easy to use up.

There's only DH and me - so what do I do with 30 jars of mincemeat (it WAS 36 jars but we used some at Christmas). I must remember not to send DH shopping when there's bargains around. It took us years to eat up the 9 turkey breast joints he got one Christmas eve...

But I have food stored under the stairs, in a floor-to-ceiling cupboard in the hallway, on shelves in the spare bedroom, and in the loft. Oh, and some under the sink as well. Not to mention the two 10kg bags of onions (bogof) on the floor by the larder.

And we have 2 freezers. We used to have 5 freezers (we lived on a remote farm...) and I feel good at having cut down. I was almost down to one freezer. I had got the chest freezer to about half full. Then, wouldn't you know it, friends had a mouse chew through their freezer wire.

Although the food was still frozen, they thought this would be a great moment to buy a new freezer and new food. So they gave their freezer full of food to us....

I would love to get to the place where we've eaten our way through the impulse buys in our stockpile and can start again with things we would normally eat!!

I'm currently making my stockpile worse - I bought 3 of those giant gammon joints that were half price at Morrisons this week, and I've just put a Tesco order in for next week with a half price pork leg on it which should do 4 roast joints for my family of 5.

We are working out way through our stockpile of shower gels. The kids each got some for Christmas, and I got a bunch that were on special offer one week, so currently we have 8 bottles on the go!! I'm not sure I'm going to need to buy shower gel again this year. :rotfl:

    Tha teabread recipe is actually from the BBC's 'Good Food:101 Cakes & Bakes'.ISBN 978 0 563 52114 3.It's a great baking book.You'll find the recipe here:

The top tends to burn a bit,so I always cover it when it's baking.Enjoy!

Now this may seem a weird one but bear with me please. This is an area that I don't think gets a lot of thought when we are out shopping.

The last time I bought toilet rolls on special offer I paid around 24p a roll - I think it was 16 rolls for the price of 9 or something similar. That stash is running low so needs topping up (well, it has lasted me since last summer!) but now I am finding that the even with the best deals, the price per roll is around 50p per roll.

I did read somewhere that Home Bargains do a brand that is good value for money and costs around 25p-ish per roll. Has anyone used it and is it good value for money? I have 2 children who seem to use wayyyyyyyy more than they need to so this is one area where I am happy to stockpile to the ceiling!

anniebooklover this doesn't answer your question, but you can squash the loo roll,so it's no longer round in shape but oval and so won't spin so easily on the loo roll holder. It might help your children use less.
