  • I dont have the space for a big stockpile in my cupboards either....also Im very fat and slow so dont think I would survive the zombie apocalypse for long anyways!!:D
Although last month I did get fed up with having nothing in my food cupboards but stuff that was 5 years out of date and made a very practical stock list which is now stuck inside the door. Should make shopping much easier and I did feel quite smug at how organized I was being.
Now all I have to do it work out why I never seem to have any toothpaste and yet have about 8 deodarents at any given time!!:o

    I live in a small,rented flat,but have a fair-sized cellar space with lots of shelving.:D

I have a considerable surplus of foodstuffs including flour, sugar, milk powder, lentils, dried fruit, tinned goods, rice and pasta etc.I finally did an inventory this year and am working my way through everything according to the expiry date. Not that expiry dates bother me: think that most of last year I used out of date (but only just) flour in my BM.

I also have about 50 to 60 jars of HM jams and chutneys.

I definitely have a stockpile mentality, but haven't always been this way, only in the last 3-4 years. It does me feel secure to have a stock of goods to hand.I can't imagine having just one bag of sugar and half a bag of pasta in IYSWIM.I just have to make sure not to go OTT again!

I often take advantage of special offers to stock up on flour etc.

Most weeks, all that I need to buy is fruit and veg.

Some items I buy online, and it works out cheaper to spend over a certain amount (free postage),which is why I ordered 12 jars of Marmite in one go (I live abroad).

I've made a small dent by having a tin of rice pud and making some yellow split pea soup and also pate. Very nice it was too.

:o Hello, my username is GreyQueen and I hoard tinned foods..........most famously tinned tommies........:o

I have only one double-wall cupboard which can hold foods, so the hoard lives under the bed and the wall cupboard is re-stocked from the hoard. Things are used in strict date-order. It was only yesterday that I noticed that Iceland had packs of 3 Crosse & Blackwell baked beans for £1 which made me glad I'd stocked up there at 4 for £1 late last year.......

All the food is inventoried so it's easy to see what is low, despite things not all being in the same place. I also have the toiletries on a separate inventory. I'm not a serial over-buyer of smellies but still find it's easier to acquire them than use them up. I'm being strict with myself and am using up everything which can do a turn as handcream before I buy any more.

I find it very soothing to know that I can feed myself and help out friends in need just in case money stops working or something................:rotfl:

PS I'd love to see photies as well.

PPS The brand of t.p I use is now 50p more a pack then when I bought my stockpile. Darn it, should've bought more when I had the chance as there is no way my savings get me a return of about 40%.
Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Oh I have just seen this thread and I have been spending the last few days trying to rationalise my stockpile. I have been using it since christmas and hardly made a dent. It`s like swimming in treacle

I did the toiletries yesterday and have enough toothpaste for 2 years

I want to completely run down and start the food pile again in late autumn but next time it will be a lot smaller
  • We need to start stockpilers anonymous:rotfl:
I love my stockpile:D It makes me feel all warm and secure inside:D
I also find that it saves me loads on food and cleaning bills. A lot of the laundry and cleaning stuff comes from coupons and the rest special offers, YS and the cheap shops.
I think I've got to a good workable size now and its now more replacing what I use up rather than adding to it.
I was off to conquer the world but I got distracted by something sparkly :D
