My decluttering has taken a temporary hold due to work committments! At least its much better than it was and SO much easier to keep clean!

Not much done yesterday. DD2 taken to x-ray, just very badly bruised and she's still off school with the pain. Meeting from 4.45 - just gone 7pm so that was the evening gone by the time i cooked and cleared up. Still managed to do a teeny bit more and OH has parted with 2 pairs of boots:D (it's a start!)
missyg - "what are you doing with the stuff you're chucking out?"
straight over the fence:rotfl:
I wish! All toys and anything that can be car booted to the nice man who passes them on to children's ward/foster homes or does car boots to raise funds for the same. Anything school can make use of has gone or is going there - they are always desperate for resources. Furniture that I thought might have to go to skip has found a new home. Clothes to charity shop. Couple of bits to my mum - hoping to reverse the trend by dumping stuff on her rather than other way round! Bags of rubbish:eek: But just as many if not more bags to recycling.
Thinking about the weight has really helped me because I feel less emotional about it - it's not a box of books, it's 1 stone 2 lb! A whole black bag of clothes weighed dead on 1 stone. I must add the weight up again but we're past 72 stone, I don't know wether to be pleased or embarressed!
I feel so much more positive since finding that photo - "think cottage" is my new mantra! I've realised that the rooms I love being in are the clutter free ones, our living room isn't immaculate and has lego city over one end of the floor but it is mostly clutter free and very relaxing to be in.
well that's my mug of tea drained, off to whizz round the house before I head to the office.
Happy decluttering everyone:D0 -
HELP!!! I am having a little difficulty with the concept of decluttering. I'm not a hoarder (except for knitting wool) and do mostly try to sort out as I go. However, I read an article in a magazine at the weekend urging me to get rid of the clothes in the wardrobe which are two sizes too small. Well, I have a couple of dresses which fall into that category due to a very strict diet I was on a few year's ago. The dresses came from M&S when M&S sold quality. They would have been £35 ea. but I got them for £15 in the sale - very MSE, but the article said 'Let go of the past and move forward' so I hurled them into the charity bag.
A couple of days later I looked in on the sewing thread and got the inspiration to take the sleeves out of the dresses which would give me more movement, so out of the charity bag they came. On trying them on I found that they are not quite as tight as I had thought so they are back in the wardrobe awaiting future developments.
Does anyone else struggle to reconcile the concept of decluttering with saving (not spending) money? After all it MIGHT come in!!!!!
The charity bag is on the doorstep this morning. I am trying to resist the temptation to pull anything else out. After all I don't need THREE gravy boats do it?

Tatty.. there is a lot of decluttering going on over on the flylady thread.. I'm in charge and I have tonnes to get rid of!
Off to post some ebay stuff.. 2 bags at the moment..
bella.. go put them back in the bag.. go on.. move it.. get rid.. you haven't worn them for how long?? and just think.. if you reall yneed a dress in the future you can go to the charity shop and buy one which will fit nicely.. get rid of them now!!!!!! You could ebay them.. as they are M&S .. and invest in one new one which actually fits!!!!!!!!!!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Not been on here for a couple of weeks school hols etc plus the arrival of the much awaited new shed! Managed to get rid of quite a bit of stuff to the tip from the old shed and old shed has been shared with 2 of our neighbours who have wood burning stoves. Ebay went quite well after fees etc we managed to rack in just under £240 over 2 weeks-again just from stuff that we had fogotten about, was too small etc etc. Little man has not got the buck as well and has gone through the contents of his bedroom and no has a box of stuff that he has out grown and wants to put on ebay-only wish OH would be the same rather than buying more and more and more
Hi stampyfoot, good to know it's not just me then!!! lol. I use turbolister at the mo but my OH is trying to encourage me to use auctiva-he says it's even quicker!!!
We have switched to Auctiva just recently and I think it is much better than Turbo lister especially if you listing bundles of clothing all those pictures cost a fortune on ebay, plus the description underneath the pic and the free scheduling I think it's great-OH still a bit confused by it all at the moment though:mad:2008 will be the year I finally get organised!:o
