:hello: Hello & welcome Clutterfree and hope that you will soon be living up to your name ! At least you already know it has to be 'baby steps' at first but you will gather momentum as you start to see results.

Hey guys, I've got a couple of days off work - YAY!!!!!!! - and so I'm having a couple of Old Style Days - today it's declutter my bedroom day and tomorrow its batch cooking. Fabulous. Makes me laugh though that now my idea of a good day off is cleaning my bedroom, must be me age :D

Anyway I will see you once the bedroom is done and I mean completely done - I have FOURTEEN drawers in there plus two double wardrobes plus under the bed and oh all sorts of junk. No more shoving miscellaneous bits and bobs in drawers just in case, everything is going!

Thanks for the inspiration, I love this thread xx

  • Dobs I have 3 boys also and I can't have any more due to health reasons. I thought I would be upset also with sorting through the baby stuff I no longer need. I am keeping the favourite teddy, lullaby box, first outfit and the handknitted stuff my mum did for each son. I keeping it all in one of the divan drawers in my bed and it doesn't take up much room.

I also got negative comments off people when I was expecting my third, I even got told I was mad!!!!... Some people can be so rude. Anyway ignore them, they're just jealous.

I must get myself going now. I've been on this laptop since 8.30am. Have a good day everyone.
  • I'd like to join too!

I'm always trying to declutter but as fast as I do OH and two older children fill up the place again. We've an 11 week old baby which means all the baby stuff has come out again.

Today, I'm trying to sort out the study. Most of the surfaces are clear now but the desk drawers are full to bursting and there's a stack of paperwork on the side too. Most of it is for OH but he says he will do it then doesn't and so we get final demands, credit card late payment fees etc!

Not sure how much I will get done as have to get DS from playgroup, give him lunch, take to school. I was then planning on taking baby to a group this afternoon whilst the other 2 are in school. Dilemma - shall I declutter or go and have a cup of tea and a chat? I should stay at home I think as I want to put house on market and need to get it looking great.

I feel more motivated now I've put it down on paper!

PMSL.. tell them you know someone with 8 so by comparison you have a tiny family!!!

I have a new home for an electric heater.. FLING!!

Hubby still hasn't taken the charity bags in so I'll see if I can carry one there on the way to collect Tiddles from nursery and the other later when I collect the rest.

Welcome, Clutterfree! My motivation is partly similar, I don't ever want my "stuff" to become a huge burden on someone else. The other part is, the less I have and the more organised I feel, the happier I am!

Do keep posting your tasks and targets! We are too nice to give you a kick - but if you post here daily it should really help!

Nix143, can't wait to hear how you get on with the sort out in the bedroom! Good luck!

Done a paperwork consolidation this morning, ten years of bank statements & P60's etc into ONE box file, all nicely separated in plastic wallets! Result! I will shred the bank statements after ten years (keeping P60's of course), so I shouldn't ever need more than one box file for my old stuff now.

I have sorted out a stack of books for the car boot, but I have quite a lot of bookcrossing books which will need to be given rather than sold, so I'll do those afterwards. Will tackle the maps now, then it's off to the post office this afternoon with a few more ebay parcels.

The next week needs to be all about finding as much as I can to go to the car boot sale so I need to try not to get sidetracked with other little tasks (like I did this morning with the paperwork!)

  • Goodness, you're all so good, aren't you?!

I didn't get a bean done last night. Not event the washing up. How do people cope working full time and keeping a house tidy? I just don't have the energy! And I don't even have kids. Think I must just be a bit soft. Oh, hang on, I did a load of washing and put that out, to stop the monster from returning!

Working till 7 tonight so might get something done when I get home, but I doubt it!

One encouraging thing though was last night when I gave DH a pile of t-shirts off the line, he said, "I've got far too many t-shirts, think I'll have to do a bit of weeding.":j I assume he means weeding out the cltohes, not gardening!
    Live better on less

We should all start the 3 boys club!!! Although the consultant said I would find it difficult to carry a third child, I did. But then after having him my consultant said I could try for another if I wanted as he'd put me back together much better this time, as it was a scheduled C-section and he knew what he was going into this time!!! But, alas, finances won't allow it.

I've only managed to sell the stand from the Moses Basket so far, but I am, honestly, getting round to clearing out the rest of the baby stuff and my maternity clothes. But, then again, I keep saying that!!!

Quick 5 minute break, I've done the two wardrobes - hells bells who knew I had all that junk??? Two binbags rubbish, 2 binbags for charity stuff and spare bedroom filling up with stuff to be Ebayed! I've thrown out 9 handbags!!!!! That's without the ones going to charity shop or being Ebay'd! I didn't even think I had a *thing* for handbags  Anyway I now only have 5 and they are the ones I use regularly.

having some lunch and then tackling the bigger job of the drawers, there is stuff lurking in there from waaaaaaaay back, good flinging everyone!
