Cleared yet more stuff yesterday and today. New pine dresser gave me the excuse to get rid of a lot of stuff that I was getting bored with so thats on tomorrows collection pile.
Also cleared out blanket box............full of old wrapping paper beyond using so chucked that and found some stuff I'd bought and now wonder why.........so thats in the boot fair pile.
Old paint has been slung, wallpaper all bagged up for boot fair and I daren't do any more otherwise I shan't be able to move for boxes and carrier bags..............lol
But I'm getting there and don't it make you feel good:j

Help!! I can't get motivated today!
I've got the ironing up straight (except for one load of washing which is still drying) but can't muster any enthusiasm to get off my backside and make a start on those filing trays!! :(

I managed to get a load of washing ready and in the machine. The dishwasher is on and I've wiped down the surfaces that I can actually reach!
When the dishwasher has finished I'll empty it and hopefully be ale to finish clearing off the surfaces.
I went to wash my hair earlier and when I came downstairs I couldn't find DS. I eventually found him when I went to pick up the sofa blanket off the floor, he was wrapped up in it fast asleep!

I don't do everything around the house but (like most Mums) I do the lions share during the week. The trouble is that I work nights so everyone (not just DH) forgets that yes I may well go to bed from 9.30 am until 2.45 pm but I was awake all night while they were in bed!
DH is very much of the impression that it's ok as long as everything's out of sight. What he doesn't really grasp is that it then takes so long to do stuff because we don't know where anything is!
Anyone find that you end up having to go out and buy duplicates of stuff you know you already have because you just can't find the other one?
    Drives me insane!
Back to it now after my lunch break! TTFN, Kaz.

Hey folks, congrats on all the good work!

Gers - I'm almost at the end of my 'project' and there is always something else to think about. Now that I don't need so much kitchen storage for example, a whole row of overhead cupboards can be knocked out. Soon won't need the shelf unit in the lounge where I used to keep my books, cds and dvds. Do I really need a chest of drawers in my bedroom, or could I put a much smaller drawer unit inside the built in wardrobe for my undies etc? :p Also, managing the money saved from not buying new things requires some effort ;)

Miro - oh you are good having a sewing box! I am hopeless with anything to do with sewing!

Kscour - has the wii arrived? :D What about encouraging relatives to buy 'experiences' for the kids instead of yet more possessions? A cinema or leisure pass if they are old enough, theme park tickets, hair/beauty day for girls etc? A gift doesn't always have to be something they unwrap. For Easter I'll be giving my son money (he'll get Easter eggs from the rest of the family), and he can spend it on more Eggs when they are half price after Easter if he wants, or more likely he will choose something else.

Nix43 - fantastic! So, was it worth the effort? I bet it was!!! Oh my gosh about your friend with the 63 pairs of shoes... here I was wondering if I could get mine down from 14 (which includes ALL footwear, slippers, wellies, flip flops etc). I guess we all have our little weaknesses - mine is definitely photos!

Kaz2904 - I reckon sometimes we think we'll miss things, but we don't really. When I got rid of all my videos about 6 months ago, I replaced some of them with DVDs of the same thing because they were my favourites. Now these are the same DVDs I'm selling because I haven't watched them since I got them! Luckily it was only a few, but I should have waited to see if I'd miss them first. As for having to buy duplicates of stuff, once you get sorted that will be a thing of the past! :D

Back in a minute with my update!

    CD update
From a collection of 200+ a few weeks ago, I have 3 I've decided to keep for the time being. All the rest have either already gone, or are currently on ebay (I added some more last night). 14 sold in the last 24 hours on Buy It Now, and 37 still to go. Car boot for those that don't sell - along with the CD player!

    DVDs
Sorted out another 30 for car boot sale last night. Might still be able to do more, down to half a shelf with these now. (Might just lose the lot).

    Books and maps
Halved them again yesterday (second time of halving them!) - to go to car boot. Freed up two shelves.

    Old computer bits/cables/manuals/software etc
Going to sort this today - second pass, should be an easy job.

    WHAT HAVE I DONE!?!?!?!?!?

I needed DS1's birth certificate so he could open a bank account.. and.. it was in the middle room.. in a drawer.. the chest only has 3 drawers so I knew it wasn't too far away.. BUT.. it took me almost 2 hours to get to it through the junkand gibble and mess... and now.. I have to put it all back!!!!!!!!!!!:eek::eek:

Time to fling a bit I think!!!!!!!!!!

Bank letter now posted though so that's one less thing to do.. he does still need to phone for his NI number though.. Hopefully by the middle of next week he will have a bank account sorted and will be able to be paid the £600 he is owed!!!!!

DD5 shredded a bin full of papers.. then the shredder broke!!!!!!!! We only got it at christmas and it is only the second time it's been used so hubby can take it back tomorrow!

So I've managed to lug the hoover upstairs and have done my room and DD's.
The horror of it- I've not hoovered up there for about a year:eek: .
I've put away the clothes that were on the ironing board and have a few items left to iron now. I've got a load in the wm and a load in the dryer. When they are done I'll try to get them put away.
The bathroom floor is now clear. I dug it out last week and lovely hubby put up a blind in there for us so he cleared off the window sill.
I have mountains of toiletries that we are still working our way through but that's ok!
DH had to get 2 gifts for ladies at work the other week and was able to take 2 toiletry sets that I'd been given as Christmas gifts last year so no cost and some space regained!
I still have boxes of smellies that are unopened but shan't open them until I need them. For some reason I have 6 multi packs of sanitary towels- I'll probably go through the menopause before I need to buy more- either that or my 6yr old will start having periods before I've used them up!
I too had an old pack of lilets in my bedroom- why as I hate them?
The only thing I've used them for was when I had a horrific cold in November and couldn't sleep for the amount of stuff pouring out of me so in desperation I shoved one up my nose (GROSS!). I managed to go off to sleep but woke up 2 hours later because it had swelled and I thought I was going to rupture my nostril! Sorry if that's TMI for any of you anyway back to it I guess!
