Well done Nix - I haven't tackled my wardrobes yet, but my excuse is I'm on a diet and don't know what size I will end up, so can't throw anything awayYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever0

Quick 5 minute break, I've done the two wardrobes - hells bells who knew I had all that junk??? Two binbags rubbish, 2 binbags for charity stuff and spare bedroom filling up with stuff to be Ebayed! I've thrown out 9 handbags!!!!! That's without the ones going to charity shop or being Ebay'd! I didn't even think I had a *thing* for handbags
Anyway I now only have 5 and they are the ones I use regularly.
having some lunch and then tackling the bigger job of the drawers, there is stuff lurking in there from waaaaaaaay back, good flinging everyone!
Wow Nix, makes my one little wicker basket clear out for today seem pathetic in comparison!
Anyway, I've done it - basket now empty and paperwork filed plus some shredded and other bits of paper in the recycling.
I know it's not much but I think with me little and often is the key.
I also REALLY didn't feel like doing it but because I had posted on here this morning it made me do it!
Also found 2 lottery tickets dated January in the basket and thought I'd check the numbers online. When the dates didn't tally with the Lottery website I realised they were from January 2007!!! Ah well, that'll teach me to be more organised....
Not sure what to tackle tomorrow, will have a think and post either tonight or tomorrow.
Looking forward to getting to "know" you all.

PHEW... positive feedback from the buyer who bought my skanky old DM's.. I was REALLY nervous about that one thinking they'd think they were not worth the £36 they paid.. I wouldn't have paid that much!! :eek:LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0

I am so happy - managed to get study done - all paperwork put away and pulled out lots of statements etc to go in garage in archive boxes. The drawer of the desk closes now!!
I've had a couple of things that I put on freecycle this morning collected so it's going really well.
I know I've only just started but it feels like a weight is being lifted off my shoulders

Oh dear, massive stationery order has just arrived - 10 boxes! I've ordered stuff in bulk because I know I will use it eventually (it's for business) and it's more MSE that way, but now I have to find space for it all!
Nix143, if 5 handbags is the number you're keeping then I'd say you definitely have a handbag "thing"Well done with the efforts today, brilliant! Keep on it!
Charlies_mum, if you're on a diet you can get rid of the bigger stuff from the wardrobe soon!
Clutterfree, glad you made a start! One small thing every day, or most days, will all add up!
Pigpen, that's great about the DMs! Isn't it funny what some people will pay for things you think aren't worth it? I had a proper bidding war on on of my items from the first lot this year... knew it was too good to be true - they haven't paid *sniff*. Filed the non-paying thing last Friday and I've emailed them today, I understand that after 7 days I can file for a refund of fees and relist my item. Bloomin' time wasters
Beckyw - watch out, it gets addictive!
Right, on with those maps.0 -

Well done all - this whole thread is so inspiring!
But bringing in stuff - in my case about 600 hangers is not helping is it? Still they'll be gone once the sale is over - I promise to do more chucking of rubbish to compensate!!
MoamAlthough no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.... life is a WIP.
Snowball says too far away, working hard to bring it forward.0 -
I've had another day of climbing up step ladders and clearing out dusty shelves! More books in three piles:
1) for the local hospital - library or 'Friends' shop
2) back to my mum's house
3) to the university for their library
Got a pile of photos sorted into relevant piles too. Some are destined, I hope, for an army museum and others to various family members.
Loads of paper shredded or in the recycle bin too. Got enough pens to stock a small stationery shop for 5 years and enough paper to keep an office happy for 3 years! My stationery fetish is obviously out of control...
Got the important/financial papers in one location too.
What do we all do when we get to the end of the declutter???0 -
What do we all do when we get to the end of the declutter???
I'd celebrate if I were you when you get to the end of the de-clutter, I don't see any end in sight as yet... I envisage having to start again-coz there's always a job isn't there!!!!!GE 36 *MFD may 2043

Just done a little mini-de-clutter tonight whilst watching Emmerdale (
), my sewing box!! Been meaning to do it for ages as it was so full it wouldn't close properly. Now all the spare buttons are bagged, press studs, hooks & eyes etc are in clear plastic cases, (from primula cheese I think) and all the other bits are sorted and bagged, (elastic, tape, ribbon, bias binding etc). Safety pins, needles & pins, (cue for a song!), all sorted. At last, a neat and tidy sewing box that actually closes, and there is a chance I might be able to find stuff now. :j
