Stampyfoot could you get a grant from the council to insulate your loft ? Just a thought.
I haven't really looked into it because I thought it was only for those on benefits which we're not, but I will make some enquiries about it thanks.
Anyway I have sorted out a black bag for charity, so that will go with the next collection. I have also cracked the whip at hubby, right now he is cleaning his aircraft tools ready to sell on ebay and then he can clean up the leaf blower/vac. Punishment for the pitiful card he got me for our 13th wedding anniversary today. His defence was 'it was the only one I could find down the late night garage'. It said on the front 'On Your anniversary' whoever said romance was dead was right.0 -
I threw out two pairs of shoes yesterday, does that count?
Honestly, I am with you all in spirit even if my actions leave a lot to be desired :rotfl:Comps £2016 in 2016 - 1 wins = £530 26.2%

Today -4 cushions have gone to mil's. She is very crafty and uses the insides as fillings for things she makes. I also took her a couple of dd's clothes for her neice's child and a chair that sits a child higher at table that my dd has now outgrown, that is also going to neice. I threw 1 pair of (beyond repair) shoes out but gained 2 (brand new) pairs from MIL.
I have sorted out my car. Not sure how much rubbish I've thrown but at last a bag full. Am going to visit my parents in a minute so am going to de-tour to supermarket as I have a load of carrier bags to put in their recycling bin cos I am goin to get into the habit of using cloth bags instead.0 -
Have been sorting out make-up and toiletries today and just wondered what to do with the de-clutterery stuff. Some of it is in really good nick, (bought wrong colour...that sort of thing), hardly used. Do I just bin it, or would a charity shop take it...or Freecycle?? I really don't know what to do as it seems a shame to just bin it?? Can't see it doing anything on Ebay. Your thoughts would be very helpful here.
Hi, a few ideas for you. You could indeed put them on ebay, but possibly won't fetch much second hand unless its a really good make.
In the spirit of 'waste-not, want no', I've been bringing a few bits into work, leaving them on the spare desk and people are helping themselves.
Or get all your mates to root out their old stuff and have a swapping party!Live better on less :beer:0 -

I got help with cavity wall insulation and am now waiting for a survey for top up loft insulation.
I think some of the power companies are involved in these schemes.0 -
