Enough is enough - the great declutter

Feeling very pleased with myself as I cleared a whole corner of the spare bedroom!!:j
Now have 3 carriers full of toiletries and cosmetics ready to take into work for people to help themselves to and have to go to the tip now to offload some shoes and clothes. What's going to come from the rest of the room's clearing? :eek:Live better on less :beer:0 -
Well done RedSpecs.
I've been trying to sort my conservatory and have so far got rid of 20 items. Need to keep going though. Trouble is I keep getting sidetracked by my pc!!We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.0 -
Tell me about it!!
Off now, hopefully will getback to you guys later...Live better on less :beer:0 -
Well, that was rather painless. Also found out that I can take plastic bottles to be recycled there, which is a bonus. Not that I use many plastic bottles, that is!Live better on less :beer:0

This is an inspirational thread, I am in major need of decluttering, I don`t throw anything away, everything is saved for something, its getting somewhat of an in joke.. I am starting to ebay & when he weather gets better will venture out to some car boots as I have lots of books, have checked most of them only a penny, anything worth over two quid is on amazon.
Wish me luck guys. My big problem is that because of how much stuff I have collected I am not motivated enough. My hubbie jokes that if I sell eveything in the attic, the house will be 12 ft taller & if I sell all my clutter we could pay a huge chunk of the mortgage , hes probably right.....
Hes forty next year so I am thinking if we sell most of it, if not all I can take him to new york....Fingers crossed.
I sold some stuff in the run up to christmas & we got £453.
So I know that I can do it, it just takes so long to list.
Wish me luck

My OH has convinced me to try listing on ebay using auctiva. It has been mentioned many times on here. I have now tried it and am in total agreement with the other posters, it is brilliant and quick and easy-quicker than turbo lister. You can have up to 24 pictures free. We used to get ours free using turbo lister but that was by putting them in the listing from photobucket. So if anyone is remotely interested auctiva comes highly recommended.
I have now cleared and wiped all the sides down in the kitchen. I have cleaned the fridge out too. and done loads of washing-kids have even done some bedroom tidying and taken some of their stuff away!!!

Have been saving even more money today by a) switching gas and elec supplier; and b) switching my pet insurance. Needed to do that last one since we got our kitten, Ollie, in the summer. Were paying £8 each for the other two, but now paying £14 for all three!:money: Less than half the price for more cover :j
All that and I took a load of stuff down the tip for recycling earlier. Feeling very good about life for all that :TLive better on less :beer:0 -
Started organising the stuff for car boot sale. Four largish boxes! Didn't realise I had collected so much in the past few weeks (some of it was stuff that didn't sell on ebay).
Decided to part with 20 more DVDs on top of the 30 earlier in the week, still thinking of getting rid of the lot.
Sorted out under the stairs (again), nothing more to chuck but it's tidier. Did a bit more in the shed.
Cleaned every bit of the house top to bottom, it's sparkling! Exhausted now.0 -
Hi everyone
It looks like our home PC has broke, so I'm only occassionally looking in and I'm unable to post often (using dh work laptop). I got a bit sorted out last week despite spending 1 day in bed with a hangover:o
My plans for next few weeks are
week 1 - sort out shoe cupboard, my wardrobe and chest of drawers plus dd'd scarfs etc books, cds, dvds
week 2 - sort out ALL paperwork
Once I have acheived this, my house is done :T
BUT it doesn't include the attic or garden -both which will have to wait till dh can help too.
week 3 - complete clean of all house
week 4 - orgnaise things like banks to change etc
That fetches me up to Easter and kids off
If I can log in and post to update how I'm getting on I will.0 -
I seriously need to de-clutter, you are all an inspiration. I am aiming to do masses of de-cluttering over Easter (begins 21st of March for me, I am a teacher), but reading your posts I think I might aim for a bag a day (a bit vague that, I might begin by aiming for a bin bag a day and might scale it back to a carrier bag if need be!).
Any top tips?
