wow, that's a big decision - i'd be very tempted, (and 6 weeks off sounds bliss). How long could you make 10k last, do you think?

Ooooh I reckon 6 months if I'm not careful and keep my car / horse and don't change my lifestyle too much. Maybe 8 if I cut down quite a bit!

I don't know anything about shares but if you sell any, pretty please will you pay off your mortgage? It's annoying seeing it on your signature still when you should be mortgage freeeeeeee!

Ha ha will do!! Just have lost the energy to do the last bit - oh and I keep spending too much money!!

Would be very tempted. Lovely share offer! So nice of them don't you think :)
Seriously consider the contractor side of things - I'm self employed and its not like a job. I do worry about where the work will come from and if it will continue. And get no lazy days where someone pays me for doing bu!!!er all which I do admit happened when I was employed.
Now on to the serious stuff around here Has horsey settled down?

I think its the scary leap of actually doing it! I've never been without a job before and although I've done lots of roles (product manger, commercial manager, business relationship stuff) I'm still not sure where the roles are (thinking probably in product management?) I hate the thought of not being able to skive off too :rotfl:

    Horsey going ok ish...
Defo better but not quite there (saw a person yesterday and freaked out and broke free of the tie up!)
Ridden he is doing well with just the occassional massive spook but normally for a reason (well a reason to him, I'm not sure seeing another horse is a 'reason'!)
Finally managed to get a farrier so shoes back on Sat. Then I'm going to have to start hacking out - bricking it lol!!

    We hacked out!
He was very good and am going to take him again tonight :)

On the job front, OH doesn't think I'll be dedicated enough to be a contractor and just end up not working at all (he knows me well!) I just don't think I was designed to work :D

So probably will stick where I am for a few months and see what crops up. Will need to start the savings again properly soon as have been very slack (aka spending too much on hoss!)

And there you have rub of self employment! All to easy to do very little unless well motivated, and, :) I speak from personal experience as am not that well motivated :)
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

So... the other option I have now discussed with OH is going 4 days a week. (can you tell I really hate working lol!)
    He's not keen :)
I did point out that it would make our salary the same if I did so not sure how he can argue it! It would need to be a joint decision in reality really I suppose!

On to other stuff i.e. horse :)

He's doing great, we've had a couple of spooky but sane ish hacks. Even walked round the gallops which is fab (my last one didn't understand the concept of walking on grass!) He is very much in my good books :)

Thanks both - also went for our first 'mini hack' (literally 10 mins!) totally alone yesterday and all was good!
In terms of MSE stuff - nothing exciting to report, no saving done. Need to get my mojo back or I'll never be able to retire!!
