I just hope he wakes up enough after vet sedation to get his saddle fitted!!

Congratulations on new horse. Sounds lovely :):)
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

You might be skint but it's good to start from scratch and know everything is done by people you trust.
7 y/o was fine really but just slightly not sane enough, just a little buck when jumping and quite a mighty spook at the stable matting of doom. He probably would be ok, though he is quite expensive and instructor is insisting I get something Irish and preferably not a TB. Going to see a 17/18ths TB this week instead.

Did you manage to have a productive weekend with yours?

Thats so funny Floppy. Ponyplops spooks at plastic covered bales of doom.
  • They're all so weird aren't they? I don't expect perfection but I suppose 7 y/o ex racehorse is risking it a bit. First lame horse didn't spook at plastic covered bales of doom :(

Warning - this is going to be a moaning post :)

On the money front - why o why did I let my OH lose with the finances to build a patio?!!! He has gone waaaayyyyyy over budget and now we have a big loan to pay off. I know he tried hard to keep it in check but it wasn't costed properly and I seriously doubt he even knows what it actually cost!

In other news horsey is a crazy, scared blob of silliness :(
Oh we have had fun and games and he has regressed massively! We are only just managing to lead into the yard without him having a melt down. I've had an experienced person look at him and they say he is genuinely scared but that really aint fun!
I guess its only just been over 2 weeks so early days but boy do I just want to give up! Not really sure why I'm putting myself through it all!
Moan moan moan (well I did warn you :p)

it took me a hundred goes to load ponyplops the first time...and she was scared of park benches.

Do NOT let your OH ever project manage a house build!!

I'm thinking of never even allowing him access to a bank account!

Slightly better day yesterday in that I managed to bring him in and lunge him (horse not OH!) and he didn't have a major melt down at anything :)
When I put him back in his field he saw a fellow livery and didn't bolt anywhere. Very tiny tiny baby steps but better than nothing! Have bought him a calmer today (£20 ) because he is truly scared so I thought it might help take the edge off until he's used to his new surroundings

OH working on Sat - a friends BBQ / Bday party on sunday so just a spend of a couple of bottles of wine and veg on Monday

Hope everyone else has nice plans?

Got a professional riding hoss later today (I know him so he only charges a tenner!) so will see what he's like with someone who knows what they are doing. Really looking forward to it!
