Who knows! I've given up with that!

Oh and a very important bit of MSE news - lodget moves out on Friday.
In total we've had lodgers for 2 1/2 years to help with this journey and at times its been challenging (esp for OH who never wanted a lodger!) and at times its been helpful (stuck at work and someone to let the dogs out!)

I will miss having the company but no more lodgers as I think OH has done his fair share allowing it to happen for so long

I keep thinking about lodgers. OH not keen at all, but, we do have a spare room and the payments would be useful to overpay. OH works shifts and just not keen at all so it might be a step too far for him.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

It will be hard if he works nights etc. My lodger is currently crashing round the house and that would be so annoying if we were asleep. That said, the money is soooo useful and generally if you find someone you get on with, they aren't annoying. My OH was ok with it when we had a 30 yo blonde pretty girl and a 28 yo Brazilian (funny how he then got over it lol!!)

Yeah. Suspect it isn't really an option for someone who works nights. Plus house isn't exactly in a desired location for lodgers being about 20 mins from a nearby town, 10 mins from village etc. Am saving the idea til we get desperate! (Like if his job vanishes). Then will advertise for lodger with horse so can use one of the spare stables and gain a bit extra!

  • Glad you're safe and secure for a while. You've been thinking of freelancing, maybe this is a nudge from fate? Hope you get a pay out and it's not a whole company disaster?

Redundancy can be very traumatic, especially if you've been there a long time.

BUT, it is a catalyst for change, and many my former colleagues and I agree that our lives changed for the better after redundancy, once all the dust settled.

As you've been there for a long time, hopefully there'll be a reasonable redundancy package.
