BUT, it is a catalyst for change, and many my former colleagues and I agree that our lives changed for the better after redundancy, once all the dust settled.
As you've been there for a long time, hopefully there'll be a reasonable redundancy package.
Hiya!
I'm finding it bizarrely stressful even though I'm in a much better situation than most. Very emotional....weird!Mortgage starting balance 2011 ... £170k today £1.5k

When we were all made redundant, it was a surreal time.
It was announced in the June, and our office closed in the November.
So, over those 5 months, people gradually left, the number in the office gradually dwindling.
We all became very tactile. I had worked with some people for more than 20 years, and had never even touched them, yet by the end we were all hugging each other on a daily basis!
I only cried twice, once when my best friend left early in the process, and on the very last day, when everybody came back and we literally took over the local pub for the afternoon.
But it was a stressful time, even though it wouldn't have been a disaster if I didn't find a new job immediately.
Good luck, I'm sure it'll pan out just fine, it's just getting to 'the other side' that can be painfulEarly retired - 18th December 2014

Oh gosh ny life is squillions better post redundancy. The future is bright and all that!
Tell horse to behave though...
I wonder if my horse had anything to do with new found singleness but I am very confident I have been left with the better 'man'They might test us but it wouldn't be life without them!

Good to know
I think that a man needs to be very supportive for those of us with horses. We need constant food (yep, anyone wanting to lose weight, get a horse!), constant assistance round the yard, patience when dealing with our obsession and be prepared to be a groom all weekend (and when its dark and cold and we just can't face it!!)

Over the past week I've managed to slowly read your diary from "cover to cover", and what a good read it has been!
It's amazing what you have achieved, and to echo a lot of other commenters what really shines through is your positive can do attitudePaying off 90k in one year - I'm pretty amazed with that, well done!
Oh, and thanks for posting so much detail on the horse stuff... I now know that if want to avoid losing all my money and / or time to them they should be avoided at all costs, so I think the warning / cautionary tale is priceless :rotfl:0 -

Laura buy a bigger house and come back!Mortgage Apr 18 £417,894 BTL Mar 18 £162,857

Laura Jo-another lovely user recommended that I read your diary as its quite similar to mine. It's incredibly similar. A very optimistic target only achievable by sheer dedication and creativity. I'm still on track even though many said it was unachievable. cn I ask your earnings in relation to the monthly payments you managed to make? I hope that's not a cheeky question-it would just put the payments into perspective. I think I manage to put a LOT of my income into payments so interested to see the %age!
What's the plan now? Buy a bigger house? Do you miss the challenge?
Well done!!!0
