So sorry horse has turned out to be scared of stuff. A calmer might help. It did help baby who has to have magnesium when the grass grows bless him o/wise he behaves like a toddler who has had wayyyy to many sweeties.
Be interesting to hear how professional manages him.
And - well - OH has a loan - but - you still have your savings there I see and you know the drill for getting rid of it. Mind you if it were Mr Watty I'd be giving him pocket money and removing all financial access :)
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

    Hi Laura -

gosh I have missed loads - I used to love popping in and reading your diary - I think last time you were just about finished your mortgage and were buying some land / stables which fell through? I need to back track a bit lol.

So horsey in this MFW side of things :D. Sometimes with a scared horse you just need to take charge more to instill confidence - I have a mare (well belongs to OH) she is borderline nervous / taking the mickey and can be so obstropolus!! (thats a cross between obstinate and stroppy :D)

I have a 12yr TB schoolmaster type - she is lovely although can show her TB side now and again.

Hoping next year to join you all in properly overpaying and killing my mortgage.

    Hello :)
Well he was still a spook mountain with him which made me feel better - until I got on and we had a bucking session so I fell off (in front of everyone of course!)

I do think removing all financial access / responsibilty is the way forward :D:D

    Hello :)
Yes it all fell through - expense mistake but happy where we are now at least.
You are totally right - I think the confidence got shocked out of me over the first few days! Might need some more tips :)
    Whats the plan for 2015?

Oh no that sounds quite unnerving, are you making progress? I agree with LAM, in a new environment he may need a lot of reassurance, but have you been in touch with the seller?

Ooops long time no type :)

Hello everyone, hope everyone is saving well :)

My saving isn't going brilliantly but I am just about hanging on to my savings whilst OH does actually appear to be sssslowly paying off the loan! I can't contribute to that at the mo as I've just had sooo much to pay out for (including a vet bill for £115 for a teeth check - really?! Seems a lot to me!)

On a really plus side, we had a few neighbours round for a BBQ on the weekend (far too many sherberts :( ) and one of them offered to do the welding on my horsebox and chuck it through an MOT. What a sweetie! Just need to get OH into gear to sort it out with him (I can't possibly do it as its a man's job :rotfl:)
Hopefully that will save a few pennies.

Also have a big decision to make....
Have a share save thing paying out in Nov. The company has been merged and therefore the shares have tripled to £10k.
I'm wondering if I take the money (which was going to be used for my retirement) and quit work and set myself up as a contractor? Longer term I'm wondering if that will be more fruitful for retirement (oh and I'd probably take 6 weeks off work which I have never done and would be amazing!!)

Are there any other contractors on here - what are the pitfalls / upsides?
    Any advice appreciated :)

  • wow, that's a big decision - i'd be very tempted, (and 6 weeks off sounds bliss). How long could you make 10k last, do you think?
    mortgage 1 33,000. paid nov 2012 :D. mortgage 2 87,000 due 51,686.76 at july 2013, but then:new home and remortgage ... £101065.43:eek: now 74k
  • I don't know anything about shares but if you sell any, pretty please will you pay off your mortgage? It's annoying seeing it on your signature still when you should be mortgage freeeeeeee!

Would be very tempted. Lovely share offer! So nice of them don't you think :)
Seriously consider the contractor side of things - I'm self employed and its not like a job. I do worry about where the work will come from and if it will continue. And get no lazy days where someone pays me for doing bu!!!er all which I do admit happened when I was employed.
Now on to the serious stuff around here Has horsey settled down?
