    Hi LauraJo

I stumbled across this thread whilst browsing the site yesterday - it makes for interesting reading thats for sure! I have a question though if I may....

Your're commitment to the goal is clearly commendable but with so much cash 'freely available' to put forward in overpayments are you also managing to take advantage of other tax free entitlements such as your annual cash ISA allowance?

TBH the only thing I am concentrating on is OP'ing. I don't have other savings / other money for anything else. We want to try and get as much paid off before the rates go up again coz as soon as they do we wont be able to do this at all (in some ways we are lucky that we have had years of mortgage payments at a high ish interest rate so know how fortunate we are to be able to do this...)

Thanks! A combination of someone who did well when the interest rates where cut, getting a lodger, doing extra work where possible and basically now having no life!! I was amazed how much we used to spend on stuff, going out, holidays etc and we felt like we could live without it all for 2 years. Not having kids probably helps too!!

Its very hard to keep focused and not just blow it all on a fab holiday!!!

    Hi all...
August took a bit longer to total up but I'm am really pleased to say we have hit target of £2.5k overpay this month. Its not quite as much as last month but still really chuffed.
Sept is going to see a month of 50p specials from the garage and more scrimping!! Bring it on!!

Oh and btw - for those of you who are benefiting from low interest rates to do this (like me!) then take a look at this

    http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/saving/article-1678233/What-rates-savings-Isas-fixed-rate-bonds.html

There is a prediction that interest rates will be cut again in Nov - fingers x'd!!!!
