It appears the best way to save is to totally knacker yourself so you can't go out, drink or have any fun!
Been house bound for 2 weeks now (after falling over - duh!!)

Oh dear. I hope you heal soon.

I broke my leg badly many years ago and was housebound for ages. I saved a fortune (and watched many bad tv movies). Sadly this was before my money saving days.

Another week is apparently needed of doing nothing. Looking on the bright side I have had no travel costs and a tank of petrol has never lasted me so long!

Bad news is house insurance and a water bill this month so wont be able to OP as much in July (why do I only have one water bill on monthly DD?!!)

Gotta shop around for house insurance tho as they have put it up by about £100!!!

    Happy saving week all

Hey LauraJo, just wanted to wish you good luck with your journey, I am trying to be Mortgage Free before Christmas 2018, if I achieve this I am going to take my 10 year service sabbatical at work (3 months unpaid leave) and go out to the West Indies to watch England on tour in 2019.

If your other half needs motivating just say "oh the world cup is in Brazil in 2014/ the European Championships are in France in 2016/ the Lions tour NZ in 2017 etc if we were mortgage free we could do that".

You're lucky to be in a couple, doing this as a singleton is a lot tougher.

  • i've jsut put aload of rubbish on ebay - i keep finding it and wondering where its all come from.... i've started a savings card at the local supermarket - then rounding the cost to the nearest 10, and thats saving for out christmas food fund.
this afternoons challenge - new job application... not holding breath but worth a go.

Hope your all feeling better soon!!! just think of the savings being off.

somethings being in a couple is harder..... i'm the one who pays for everything and OH rents his house out .... therefore i look like the mean one saying no all the time coz he's got the cash.....
on the plus side started car sharing so thats saving money to!!

    Goodluck everyone xx

Wow so get my automatic renewal through (not claimed last year) and the premium has gone up by £50! This will be renewed automatically unless you call us...

Did the sensible thing and shopped around...my insurance company came up on one of those sites showing as the cheapest and £60 cheaper than my renewal quote!!

I called them to ask them about it and yes I could get the cheaper one!!! Unbelievable!! Cheeky beggers!

£60 saved (or £10 depending on how you view it!!)
