Had a quick look at the electric today and they reckon I could save £38 per month which sounds nice! I'm not sure if the tariff I'm looking at tho is economy 7? Does that just happen? Not sure how it all works.
Other good news is OH has been away all week so saved us a fortune on food!!!

    Hi LauraJo,
Whenever I've changed my tarriff for a cheaper monthly amount it's always gone up a few months later. If you have the kwh prices that you're currently paying it may be better to compare that with a new company. Cheaper kwh = cheaper tarriff. I saved a substantial amount on kwh, which naturally brought my monthly DD down and it's those prices that are guaranteed. The sales guy on the phone did have a little chuckle at me when I said I wasn't interested in the monthly DD saving they could give me as I know that's just a sales pitch which they have the power to change at any time.
I hope you don't mind me suggesting that out of the blue.

Not at all and it was a good tip! I have spent hours this weekend working out my KWH rate and all that jazz. I think I am still better off switching (althought they don't make it easy with their pricing policies!) I have gone with Scottish as I think they have the lowest economy 7 rate...

The lodger is moving out at the end of this week. Mixed feelings as its good to have the rent but he does up our bills considerably since he never goes out!

Now need to consider whether to get someone else in. I reckon it will add another 5 months to my plans if we don't get someone in and that seems like forever!!

Posted an ad for a lodger on Monday and have already had 2 enquries so really pleased. One is coming to look Sat am and she seems promising. I have also upped the rent I'm asking for to cover more of the bills. This should bring in another £55 per month so probably worth a bit of hassle in the long run!!
