You've done sooo well!! Amazing job so far!

So what's your plan long term? You going to then sell up and buy a bigger place? Or have time off work, save for something big etc?

I think when I'm finally mortgage free, I'll just end up buying a bigger house and starting all over again. No idea when that would stop!!

    Aw thanks :)
Not sure about the future. We have 3 bedrooms and there is only 2 of us (well 3 at the moment!!) but not sure we need anything bigger (isn't that just more cleaning!!) I would like a farm ha ha but OH isn't quite so convinced :D
I guess - farm aside - it would just be nice to not work so hard and enjoy myself!!

I wonder if it'll be too depressing getting another mortgage once its all paid off?!!

So I'm helping my mum order my bday present - a new pair of animal clippers (so excited - sad I know!) and I actually phoned the company to see if I could get a discount! They had some ones they used in a marketing shoot and gave me 25% off! I'm not even paying for them but still feel like I've saved money (mum v pleased too!)

You certainly don't. And it doesn't hurt to ask!

Nearly 5 months in and thought it was about time I gave an update on how the lodger thing is getting on. I must say its not that easy. OH hates it, the electric bill has doubled (now paying around £230 a month from £115) and he never goes out. And I mean other than work...never.

He has 2 1/2 weeks of leave now and is not planning anything. Not sure I can cope with that.

Need to find some motivation from somewhere so I don't give him his notice today. I know ultimately it is still contributing to my OP's but doesn't feel worth it today...:(

Do you have much left after paying lodger's £115 electricity bill? When sister-in-law moved in, our elec bill doubled too. I showed her the figures to prove it. It turned out she had all her chargers (phone, laptop etc.) plugged in when not in use.

Perhaps mentioning that it's gone up much more than you'd expect and you might have to ask for more of a contribution from him will make him rethink his energy consumption.

I think thats good advice and I might have to.... He's been at work today and left all his lights on. Now I know they are energy saving bulbs so probably not costing much but its a million degrees outside and bright sunshine.

And......the bleeding electric comp have written to us today to say they are putting their prices up again.... for goodness sake don't we pay them enough!!!:mad:

Energy prices going up 15th Oct... Must look this week to see if its worth switching. Concerned any new company's estimates might be wrong and we will end up paying more.....?

Haven't sorted the electric yet but I did make my dog a coat today (he needs one for the winter as its really skinny and feels the cold!)
Now gotta get the £25 out of the OH that he was going to spend on one to use as an OP!!! :rotfl:
