Interesting that you say you have a social budget, I'm always nervous to do this as I think OH would see it as a challenge that we must spend that money each month. Typically we don't spend more than £50 maximum for going out each month, occasionally slightly more, but if I said "we have £50 social budget" he would think "right we must have a takeaway to use that up!" :D

Well done with the shopping, I'm seriously trying to cut down on my shopping these next few months, got SO much meat in the freezer it is embarassing!

I'm in totally the same boat but have the opposite problem that if I didn't set limits it would be a massive free for all!!

I'm impressed with the shopping for this week since it wasn't even me that did it! Usually he will come back with one carrier bag, spent £60 and still have nothing for dinner! Maybe we are making steps forward!

As per my post on Thursday we now have a lodger arriving in a couple of weeks! He seems ok and didn't mind our bouncy dogs! That's £400 a month for the next 6 months... This will make a huge dent each month and get me well on the way to my target to be mf by end of 2014. With scrimping, saving (i.e not spending any money!) using our remortgage savings and rent that's around a £2k op each month! Happy days.

Gonna keep going tho, there must be more I can do....hum thinking cap needed :)

    £2k overpayment each month = £40k in 20 months , still £110k to find?

Plus reduction from normal monthly payments so that will knock another...... em..... probably 1.5k off
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
    :) Mortgage Balance = £0 :)

It's no more money but gets free travel so that's a £150 or so saved on petrol each month... Issue is (keep in mind he thinks I'm mad and is not quite so committed to being mf) how do I get him to put that into my op fund?!
    Answers on a postcard please......

Could think of a few ways to sweeten him up.. :D

Yep thats £600 per month and lodger - another £400 per month. Got a shareshave that is due to mature later this year so that should give another 10k with a bit of luck. Also got my original sums wrong and now on £132 so that helps! Sure its gonna be tough but I like a challenge :)
