It was weird seeing it in black and white.... Not very good at tracking it generally!

LauraJo, what's happening? Did you make it through the first weekend of fireworks? I'm supposed to be riding tomorrow, then I realised the date.... no chance!!!

Morning!!
Sorry been a bit awol
Made it through the fireworks weekend with no horsey accidents (oh and I hate fireworks so practically stayed in all weekend so that was cheap!)
All my final shares paid out today so that is my final lump sum towards my mortgage (or land if it ever goes thru!!)
Went to go and see about a job yesterday but its in west London and took me 2.5 hours to get there and 2 1/4 hours to get back. I think the point of doing this was so I didn't have to do things like that so probably wont go for it
They have been sweet and said I only need to be there 3 days a week, will pay my travel and I can even stay up one night but I still think it will write my life off for 3 days a week every week.... I probably wont get a better offfer but just not sure I can do it!
Does anyone else have a crazily long commute?Mortgage starting balance 2011 ... £170k today £1.5k

That is a crazily long communte. But they do seem keen if they are offering 2 days a week at home and to pay your travel and for you to stay over one night. Could you negotiate it to 4 days a week if you worked longer hours the day you stay over?
I know I wouldnt want to travel that long - the whole point of me paying off my mortgage is I want to do something else - other than work! The longest I've ever travelled was just under 2 hours and it did really get me down in the end. I remember travelling back thinking I just didnt have time for anything else in my life. But that is me .... look forward to hearing what you decide.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Thanks Watty - the 4 day suggestion is a good idea. I've booked to have a chat with the guy who is currently doing the job tomorrow to get more info. I also thought I might try driving there (Hammersmith) coz although its London and the traffic is gonna be rubbish, I guess it still might be quicker than 2.5 hours!! Its only 55 miles..Mortgage starting balance 2011 ... £170k today £1.5k

when I have to go to the office near Chessington from my house in Berkshire it is 27 miles but takes at least 1 hr 20 mins. I am glad I am a homeworker and don't have to do it very often.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Pensions, Annuities & Retirement Planning, Loans

2.5 hrs with the train, yieks!! It takes me about 40 mins to get to work on the train, or just over an hour by car for my current contract, like you the costs are covered which helps but it's still a stressful start to the day. It's good to have options but you're not in a rush, no need to worry about things that don't fit. XMortgage Apr 18 £417,894 BTL Mar 18 £162,857
