Thanks! I had to use it too - phew!

Soooo... It went ok. I guess you never know what they are looking for / who else they are interviewing. Will find out Mon or Tues next week apparently so not long to wait.

However I did chose to celebrate (?) that I'd got through it last night with some friends coming over and I have a mahoosive hangover today :( I'm now on countdown to 5 o'clock!!
Nearly the end of the week!!

I am current looking at getting a morgage. I managed to get together a deposit of 30 thousand. 5 thousand of which was from a holiday I had out in the states where I spent alot of time Gold Panning and managed to find some sizable nuggets :):) I think it's wise to work out a target to pay off the morgage. I have a spreadsheet that I update every month and a calculated cell that adds together all my funds and subtracts it from themorgage balance and gives me a percentage of the amount I have left to pay. Really is a moral booster

Well of course they liked you. :T .... but ... did you like them?
Do you want the job now you know more?
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

This is the qusetion I have been trying not to think about :)
    I kinda want the job...
    Plus points:
    Like the company
    The boss is great
The job would look good on CV
They will pay travel and let me wfh 2 days a week
Hopefully get a pay rise :)

    Neg points:
    Its MILES away!!
    Its gonna be really hard
Its not really what I want to do with my life!!

However I do worry that getting a new job is probably still not that easy in this market (my neighbour is still out of work a year after being made redundant) so I feel I should take any opportunity.

I think I'll be pleased if I get it and maybe embarrassed but not too disappointed if I don't. I'm sooo on the fence :D

this may go against the grain but I don't think it is that hard to get a new job these days. You know I was made redundant just before Christmas last year but I managed to get a temp job a week later and started at a new place on Christmas eve and worked throughout the break. I went straight into another temp job after that and found a higher paying one after a week there.

Being brutally honest, if someone is out of work for a year, 9 times out of 10, it's because they don't actually want to work.

I appreciate it's only temp stuff and not near my usual salary, but it covered all the bills and kept me away from Jeremy Kyle. Most importantly, it gave me the time and freedom to wait for the right job.

I think that we're all on this part of MSE for the reason that we are determined to be in control of our lifestyles and have an end goal that we're motivated for. How does this job fit into that? They're paying travel... waheey! Will the 2 days a week WFH give you the MFW dream? Is it likely you will find something closer to what you want?

The only tip for the second interview I could give is to perhaps think of it as being a bit less formal - they know you can do the job, now it's about who will fit in better, and remember it's a two way street!

Some very valid points Floppy. This job doesn't fit into that at all but does help out with my plan to retire in 9 years if at all possible (OH gets to retire then and he'll be 51 and I'll be 43 but I don't want to work if he isn't working!!!) However.... That doesn't mean I want to spend the next 9 years in a job that isn't right for me.
I think I just have a weird personality that means I have to go for things that aren't 'normally' achieveable.
I wish I could just chill out a bit!!

  • Gosh... big decisions. Not sure I could ever retire that early - I'd be so bored! How did the 2nd interview go?

I'm sure I can keep myself busy playing with ponies all day :D

Second interview was very hit and miss (thanks for asking!) Certainly wasn't the best interview I have ever done! Have you ever had one where you just want to get up halfway through, tell them you can't answer their questions and just go? Well it was like that!!
Also, I have just found out my friend has gone for the job too so that's annoying as I brought it to her attention saying I was going to apply for it! Find out on Friday apparently...
