Thanks Watty - the 4 day suggestion is a good idea. I've booked to have a chat with the guy who is currently doing the job tomorrow to get more info. I also thought I might try driving there (Hammersmith) coz although its London and the traffic is gonna be rubbish, I guess it still might be quicker than 2.5 hours!! Its only 55 miles..
I used to work with someone who would drive into London at 5.30am and leave at 3.30pm to avoid the traffic as they didn't like taking the train in rush hour. This might be a bit extreme but you could always see if you can stagger your hours to avoid as much of the traffic as possible.0 -
I do 30 min each way. DH does 80 min each way. Its not just the fuel but the cost. Working from home sounds great.0

Thanks all for you suggestions and help. I'm wondering if 3 days a week are manageable and thanks Kildare for the thoughts on flexi hours too... Another good point to consider.
I guess I'm thinking its lucky to be able to apply for a job where they would allow me to work at home for 2 days and I'm worried that I might not be able to get a job quickly in this market. Also very lucky that they have said they'll pay for my travel!
Next decision... Do I go for it?! I might not get it anyway!!Mortgage starting balance 2011 ... £170k today £1.5k

If you don't go for it you'll regret it in the future. If you do go for it and explore all routes to make it work but decide it's not right for you then you'll know you made an informed choice. At the very least it's interview experience. Go for it :T
Fab advice....love it. Great points:)Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

I think I may be able to keep my current role (with a bit of delegation!) and do this role too so should be able to start straight away. The new role comes with a team of people so more people to delegate tooMortgage starting balance 2011 ... £170k today £1.5k
