Sorry to hear about the redundancy. Think you're approaching it with the right attitude though. Good luck with the job hunting.

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!0 -
Lara you have such a brilliant attitude! I love that your seeing the positivity in your situation rather than dwelling on the negative parts, which to be honest is the best way to be, you can't change what is happening so it's best to be upbeat and look to the future.New House... Thanks watty and choco chick!
Had a good think about things this weekend and think maybe I'll go contracting as a project manager next year. I know the work won't be so reliable but is better paid when you do get it. I'll be In the fortunate position where I could go a few months without working if need be.
Does anyone else do that?
In the money saving front, a relatively cheap weekend. Take away pizza on Friday nite (went to collect of course so you get a good deal!), free food and drink at the rents last nite and staying in tonight.... A very sober weekend for me! Also got given a scratch card yesterday and won a fiver so v pleased about thatMortgage starting balance 2011 ... £170k today £1.5k

Ugh what a miserable Monday morning. Pony aint going to get a hack out today!! Nice little working from home day so might attempt to light the fire later. Now this is something I am truely terrible at.... I can build it as per instructions, use kindling and firelighters and it still just fizzles out!

Hey LauraJo, just catching up on your diary, woah, really sorry to hear the bad news, although with 8k and heaps of notice it sounds more like a fundancy!!! You'll be fine, as shown by already thinking about the next thing! Personally I would love to contract in a few years, and with your situation (little mortgage and OH to help) you're in a good position to take advantage of the higher rates without suffering too much against the risk of not working for a while. Are you confident in your industry to go it alone? If your company is cutting back, does it represent a bit of uncertainty or have they just managed it badly?
I'm rather desperate for a hi-viz exercise sheet to go over my legs given the current weather!! Got absolutely soaked yesterday and had to get off so had a wet bum to boot!Mortgage Apr 18 £417,894 BTL Mar 18 £162,857
