Thanks all for your kind wishes. I'm trying not to worry too much since I can't change it! I guess the economy is picking up a bit so hopefully they'll be stuff out there. The 0% credit card is a good back up idea... Thanks floppy.

  • Just read through your whole thread ( which took a while! ). Just wanted to say well done on how far you've come in such a short space of time, it's truly inspirational. While I can't come anywhere near to overpaying what you have managed in the past, it's given me a determination to do what I can. I wish you all the luck with your new venture with the land you've bought and of course hope that you find your job is secure.

Aw thanks Chocoholic chick. I hope it didn't bore you too much and you had enough chocolate to get you through it :)
I think, as others have said on here, anything you OP now makes such a difference in the long term that its sooooo worth it so feel good about making every payment!
Thanks for the good wishes. Hopefully will hear more about the land this week and the job next week (I'm a bit worried about buying the land if I don't have a job - doesn't seem like the best move!!)

i keep checking back to see if there is any news on the land...or...the job front. Keep going .... lots of us have fingers crossed on both fronts i think!
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

    Ooops been a bit absent!

Soooo...land going through ok. Its going to take longer than expected because there are conditions on the land re building etc (we were aware of them so all good with us just means the legal stuff is going to take longer!). Anyway it all appears to be going thru so happy days!

On the job front apparently we find out on the 14th Oct
My big boss has been made redundant and our team mergered with several others. They reckon about 50% of us will go :(
However on the massively positive side, I have done the maths and because we have OP'd so much we can survive on 1 wage for a few months if I needed to - it has certainly taken the stress out of the situation (one of the key reasons I started OP'ing in the first place!)
OH keeps sending me job adverts coz he is worried I wont go back at all :rotfl:

Horsey got moved too last week so that's been a bit stressful but he has settled in well and my livery is now half of what is was before so busy saving the rest!!

On the scary side - we are going to an agricultural auction on Sat to buy stuff that we would need for the land. Its scary for 2 reasons - 1, we wont know if the land is 100% going ahead (bad timing!) and 2, my and the other lady have never been to one before so have no idea what to expect / how excited we might get! I can see us buying a rubbish ole wheelbarrow for a hundred quid or something!!!

WFH today so £7.50 of petrol saved :D
