Hi everyone
I've been on a DMP since Dec, so still getting some hassle from my creditors, GE money being the worst. They are refusing to accept reduced payments and keep phoning and threatening me with everything under the sun.
I've just phoned and spoken to someone at cccs who is going to send them yet another financial statement (this will be the third one, and nothing has changed since the first one so I can't understand why they want to see it again, but there you go) and the bloke from cccs told me I would be due a review of my budget next month anyway.
I thought you only got reviews once a yearI've only been on the plan 3 months and nothing at all has changed, nor is it likely to any time soon.
Has anyone else had a review so quickly after the start of their DMP being set up?0 -
Hi everyone.
I found this site a couple of weeks back, and i'm so glad I did!
Myself and my partner are starting a DMP with the CCCS on April 1st, in a bid to rid ourselves of the £18,000 worth of debt we've managed to rack up over the past couple of years.
The debt started to really get to me a few months back, but because I had a lot of credit available to me, I just kept spending and spending. Not always on big things or great extravagances either. Sometimes it would just be the odd £10 spent on a credit card in the pub, but it all soon adds up.
All the time I was spending, I kept thinking that i'd have to pay it back eventually, but for some reason, the seriousness of the situation just didn't seem to get through.
A lot of my debt can be placed down to excessive bank charges. Frequently, my bank (Natwest) would charge me up to £140 a day for direct debit payments that had been returned unpaid, and then charge me a further £38 straight away for going over my overdraft limit. Which I always felt was unfair as it was their charges that put me over in the first place. Even more annoyingly, all these charges would more often than not, come out of my account the day before I get paid, leaving me short of money before the month had even started.
Anyway, it got to the point where we just couldn't afford to pay a lot of the bills. The money would come in, Natwest would take their sizeable chunk of it, and we'd be left with just about enough money to pay the rent, a couple of biils and money for food, and that would be it.
That was when i'd had enough, and decided to contact the CCCS, who my brother had recommended to me.
The person I spoke to was incredibly helpful, and together we worked out a budget that we can stick to, and then offered to put us on a DMP to help clear our debts. And in a couple of days, we'll be making our first payment to the CCCS and hopefully setting out on our journey to a debt free life. :j
Since we agreed to the DMP with the CCCS, and stopped making the required payments to our creditors, we've started getting a few letters from them, most of them demanding money and threatening to take action if we don't pay, but we're trying to stay calm and deal with each letter as it comes in. Mostly it's just a case of forwarding the letters to the CCCS as well as writing a brief, but firm letter to the creditor explaining the situation.
Other than the letters, the only other real problem we've had is trying to find the money to clear the backlog of bills from the past few months, which came to over £500, all due by the 23rd March. Luckily, and thankfully, we've been helped out by both sets of parents who have given us the money to get us straight before we start the DMP. To be honest, I think that if they'd offered to pay the entire debt off, I wouldn't accept it as my feeling is that we got ourselves into this mess, so we need to get ourselves out of it!
Anyway, i'm rambling on now. Just wanted to say hello to everyone and hopefully offer some support to anyone else who's just setting out on a DMP!
Cheers. Proud to be dealing with my debts

Morning Everyone,
Well i've just dropped the car off at the garage for it's M.O.T so i'm sure i'll be very depressed his afternoon when they tell me it's failed!!
Joek - have you asked at work how long it would take for them to change your details for wages?
Have a good day everyone.:D
teecee xx
Hey, you gotta keep smiling
I phoned up Halifax, and to my astonishment, the savings account is still active (has 30 whole pounds in there!), I'll use that for this months salary.
And, rather luckily, I was able to change over details with my employer today and in time for them to action it before the next pay day!
That's the main worry over - not too concerned with the Phone Bill one at the mo'...I think I'll cancel the DD with Barclays ( ), they'll send me a letter, and I can just pay them when the new account opens...(hopefully soon).
So all in all, keeping postive seemed to work for me today (and my lovely folks took me out for a Chinese for lunch too! Well, I was a bit late when I turned up, but they waited!).
Hope the day's not too stessful for anyone - and keep on smiling folks.Chuffed to be member 11 on the DMP mutual support thread.

Hi NugsFarnham
I'm starting my DMP on 1st April too (though mine's with Payplan). I have had a few phone calls but nothing too major yet. When did you stop making payments to your creditors and when did the calls/letters start. I'm just wondering because I'm afraid my situation is going to get worse soon.
