    Hello everyone

I spoke to CCCS last night and they advised that I do not take out the managed loan with HSBC. Even though the interest on the overdraft will be 18% they advised that if they decide to pass on the debt then we can work at getting that interest stopped which we couldn't do on the loan. I didn't want to commit myself to 5 years of a loan, no siree!

Also finally heard from Co-op. As the loan that I have with them is a Career Development Loan they cannot accept reduced payments as their hands are tied by the Government. What they are going to do is immediately pass the loan over to Westcot Finance who are a DCA and I can then negotiate with them. Told CCCS and they were happy with that.

So I have now heard from:

    HSBC (Rubbish)
    MBNA (Seemed helpful)
Co-op (Helpful for now but lets see how Westcot behave)
Capital One (Accepted reduced payments, v. helpful)

Still yet to heard anything from EGG though.

Not bad for only being in my DMP for 2 weeks.
Proud to be dealing with my debts

    Hi everyone:hello:

NugsFarnham - Welcome aboard, you're in the right place, great to see you are getting things sorted!. Hang in ther and stay strong we're her if you need us!

Looby - Thnk I remember being told when I first contacted CCCS to set a DMP that the first review is after the 3 month period to check how you are managing within the budget and if anything has to be tweeked. After this first one if I remember correctly it's every 12 months or if your circumstances change, hope this helps!! ( if this is wrong then please feel free to correct me anyone)

Franny - Good decision not taking the loan!!

    Sally - it failed!!!!!!!!!!!!
what a surprise (I don't think!!) mind you there were no tears today and I've just spoken to the chap who looks after my car and he says ,worse case scenario it will cost £75 ,so it could have been much worse.
He's doing it on Monday so it can be retested within a week and I don't have to pay another £40 for the re-test.

    Hi NugsFarnham

I'm starting my DMP on 1st April too (though mine's with Payplan). I have had a few phone calls but nothing too major yet. When did you stop making payments to your creditors and when did the calls/letters start. I'm just wondering because I'm afraid my situation is going to get worse soon.

    Lonely

    Hi Lonely.

We stopped making regular payments pretty much straight away, and then did the whole process of writing to each creditor in turn to explain that we had been in touch with the CCCS, and included a token payment of £1.00 with each letter. Although that seems like a very low amount to pay, it's what the CCCS told us to do.

After we sent the letters off, we didn't hear anything for at least 2 weeks, then the letters started coming in thick and fast. We had one from MBNA/Virgin Credit Card which was actually very sympathetic and said that they have accepted the plan, and a load from Natwest who, unfortunately, don't seem too happy. But i'm not really too worried about them as the CCCS said not to worry about any letters and to just pass them on to them. ;)

I haven't really had any phone calls as of yet, but i'm expecting them.

Try not to worry too much about starting your DMP, or let it get to you. The main thing is that you're dealing with your debts. Of course your creditors are going to kick up a stink to begin with, but it'll die down soon enough, as soon as they realise that the only way they're going to get their money back is via the DMP.

Feel free to add me on MSN if you want to chat some more.

    Hi everyone

I've read what everyone has said but have already forgotten.

    Welcome to Looby and Nugs.

Nice one on the account JoeK.

Franny, why don't you send Egg a secure message and ask them about the DMP?

Teecee, sorry to hear your car failed. £75 is not too bad although it would have been better if it had passed.

    Hello to everyone else.

I'm a Quidco user so if anyone wants to know anything do ask. I've only been using it a few weeks and already there is over £160 in there. :j

    HI all,

Have just been trying to catch up with all the post - welcome to the new members :hello: Nugsfarnham & Looby. Daisieblue - what's happening with your money? Smilealot- what are you doing up at 2.10am on a school night?!!

I got a letter from CCCS informing me that HSBC (overdraft debt) were refusing my DMP. Don't care and very pleased that I've just sent off the charges letter so **** 'em. Btw, they won't have done thi because of the charges letter - I checked dates etc. and its def before they would have recevied my letter asking for the details!! Just checked over last year of statements though and in that year alone, which is my best at staying within my overdraft (apart from last month!!) I was charged £200. So I know there's at least 4 months in the last 5 years where it's been £72 a month so hopefully if I get them back, it should clear some of the overdraft.

Barcleycard wrote to say they are lowering my limit :D But they've accepted the DMP before so I think it's just a curtosy letter.

Hope all have a good day - was lost last night when Tiscali went down and I couldn't get on - went to bed at 9pm! (actually, have been feeling really tired this week so glad I did).

Hugs to those feeling down today. I'm off to musical minis now with the kids so see you all later. :hello:

    Morning all!!

    Kelly - sending you a big hug:grouphug:
Try not to let it get you down hun, i know thats easier said than done, but you are doing brill and it will get better.
I've got a stinking cold too and feeling ill just makes everything so much worse.
Be kinder to yourself, I haven't used a credit card since christmas and having to budget on what money I have is really hard, but I try to think of it as "I'm doing this now to secure our future" and whilst it doesn't always help it usually gets me through the dark times.
And you've always got us to talk to!!
Where are you going on holiday? hope it's somewhere nice where you can relax and have a break from thinking about money all the time.

hope every one has agood day!!
