Ex sorry to hear the shocking news glad you're dealing with it - good for you! I hate talking to foreign call centres it is always soo difficult - but I do smile when they all give very English names, like "hello you're through to Vince how can I help you today" and you just know thats not their name - I wonder if they pick them or the a*** h**** the poor devils work for!!!

Hi Ex
You seem to be taking all this in your stride, which is great. I think that they're trying to intimidate you into paying it all now. If its only (!) £500 ish, they probably think that if you try hard enough you could scrape it together and save them the hassle of a bad debt! I@m always amased at how thick skinned the people at the call centres are though, it's like nothing gets through to them!!!
btw, I'm off to register for that website now, thanks for the tip

Hi everyone,
This is my first posting on this board and I feel that it could make people feel better.
I was getting phone calls both at hone and at work several times a day from differents creditors and it was really getting me down as they were getting worse everyday. I had my LBM in July 2005 and I called Debtbusters one evening. I was in tears on the phone bur the lady explained that my debt (50k:eek: ) was not THAT huge and that they had seen much worse. She explained about DMPs and told me that if I wanted, she would send me the paperwork and all I would have to do was to sign.
A couple of weeks later I got the Payplan paperwork. I spoke to them and they offered to write to my creditors and deal with them directly once we had agreed on a budget. She also said that if I got any calls I was to refer them to Payplan and that I was not to be harceled.
I have now been paying every month and my debt has gone down to 45.5k. I still get the occasional phone call - creditors do a review every 6 months - but, when they tell me that they haven't received this or that, I have the pleasure of telling them that after almost two years of taking my money they REALLY should have noticed and mybe they owe me interest on payments they have taken.:rotfl:
This is a very llong post to tell you all to cheer up. Things DO get better and after a while it will for you too.:j2009: Headphones, Nintendo DSi , Baking Kit

Thanks for that Maxine. It's always great to hear from someone who has been there and has come out the other end.0

Well, I am not sure that 45k + is the other end yet
but stresswise life has become a lot easier. The first few months are the worst but now I have gotten ito a routine and although things are tight - and will be for a very long time - life is good again. :j
