Hi everyone :hello:
Thanks for asking after me Teecee, it was lovely to see I'd been missed. I'm okay, just had to have a break from the whole financial picture this weekend - it was all getting a bit much, so decided to stay off here for a few days too. I get so much from chatting on our thread, but sometimes you get hooked in and end up spending every night thinking about money-saving and how stupid you've been. However, I'm back and ready to face anything those creditors can throw at me... well, maybe with you guys there for support!
On the upside, I managed to spend less than £2 this weekend :j I also received my shiny new electron card and account documents from my fantastic new bank
On the downside, I got my first creditor call tonight. It was from Cahoot and the lady was actually very nice, just told me I'd be getting referred to their debt management department. One down... loads to go :rotfl:
I've been reading all the threads I've missed - you've been busy! Welcome to all the new members, it's lovely to have you here :hello:
Congrats to everyone who's creditors have agreed the the DMP payments, I'm really pleased for you all.
Hope to catch up with you one by one tomorrow or later this week, but take care in the meantime.
smilealot :rolleyes2
P.S. I have £15 to last me a week and a half - with no credit. It almost feels like a fun challenge trying to eek it out, rather than a scary situation. It's little things like that which make me realise how far we've all come. Well done guys :beer:Member #4 of the DMP Mutual Support Club - DFW Nerd #335

hi Smilealot! :hello:
Great news about cahoot - hope you get more news like that this week
Good luck with the £15 - I have to say though if you've managed to go the weekend on only £2 you're looking good for the 2 1/2 weeks!

Special message for IDAAS - sorry for not being around to help yesterday, I feel bad that you felt alone. Sometimes we all just need a friendly cyberhug and you didn't get that. Sending big ones now to you.
I went on and read that thread. That person could have been a bit more supportive towards you, even if he thought he was only trying to shed (sp?) some light on the situation. Remember we're all here for you.
Keep smiling poppet!

Sorry I didn't reply yesterday. I did actually go to the other thread you mentioned, and I thought that he had been harsh. Unfortunately I was at work and got called away and didn't get back. I'm sorry you didn't get the support you needed :embarasse

IDAAS, sorry you were feeling so down yesterday. I was trying to get round to replying to people on this thread, then I got a really horrid phone call and got distracted. Apparently my debt with AMEX has been passed to company called RMA. They are insisting that as it's a Charge Card (which you pay off in full at the end of the month) they cannot accept a debt management plan - they only do this with credit cards and loans. The woman got really nasty and patronising, going through all my purchases and saying that they weren't priorities. I didn't react and just kept telling them to go through Payplan, at which point she started shouting and saying "it's not her problem" and telling me that if I don't pay I will get taken to court. However, the big mistake she made was saying that it was on my terms and conditions that they didn't accept debt management plans - and when I asked where, she said look on the AMEX website. Of course this was a lie, I even spoke to AMEX who said that they don't have any such condition for Charge Cards. Nevertheless, I am worried.
I just wanted to ask a few questions to put my mind at rest:
1. Have any of you put a debt from a charge card (or another unusual product) on to a DMP?
2. Have any of you dealt with RMA?
3. Have you any of you been taken to court in connection with your defaults?
4. If a creditor ACCEPTS your offer from CCCS/Payplan, does that mean they are agreeing to stop the interest and charges?I'm moving on up now,

Hi Lonley,i can only answer number 4.
Your creditors,if you are on a DMP dont have to accept anything, and can contniue piling on the intrest etc etc,as a DMP is a voluntary thing, and not legaly binding...Im on a DMP with CCCS and one of my creditors, although they have stopped charges is still piling on the intrest.0 -
Which one is that Brassicks?I'm moving on up now,

Hi
Lonely - I can only say - well done for keeping your cool, the woman sounds horrid. Now, I think that charge cards can accept DMP, although Brassicks is right that no one has to...
American Express is a charge card - I definitely read someone managed to get the charges and interest stopped on this. it might take a bit longer than with the other debts but keep on going - you'll get there in the end!

Just a few messages of support to my fellow Mutual Supporters...
IDAAS - I have felt down a number of times this month. I especially hate when people talk down to me because I know that, despite being in this situation, I am not stupid and worthless. Don't let other people make you feel bad about yourself - only you know the bigger picture of your own circumstances. And the very fact that you are on this thread means that you are doing something to resolve your situation. Smile and give yourself a big hug!
Newlywed - you cannot avoid talking to someone if you want to start a DMP. Both CCCS and Payplan allow you to fill your initial details online, but then you need to go through the details with someone over the phone. Don't worry about being emotional, they talk to people everyday that are just like you and me. When I apologised for crying (tears of relief that there was help out there), the lady said she often talks to people who are chronically depressed or suicidal - so I am sure they are used to dealing with all sorts. Most importantly, it's not their job to judge you, they want to help. So, make that phone call today. Good luck!I'm moving on up now,
Out of the darkness,
My life shines on, my life shines on, my life shines on
