Hi, Hope it's okay to join this thread. My DMP started in May and my 1st payment will reach my creditors on 25th May. All in all not going too bad. Have heard back from most of my creditors accepting.
The problem I have is that Barclays (loan a/c) won't accept reduced payments and are closing the a/c and passing it over to their DC department. They are also going to close my current a/c.
I opened a basic bank a/c with Halifax a couple of months ago and sent forms to my payroll department to pay wages into new a/c but they claim they have never received them and will have to send again. This means when I get paid this month it will go into Barclays a/c. I spoke to somebody from Barclays who said they might transfer some of my wages to clear arrears on loan a/c. Does anyone know how/if I can stop them doing this.
Any advice greatly appreciated.:j PROUD TO BE DEALING WITH MY DEBTS :jPiggy points - 155

HI Hardleylisa and welcome
well done :T on getting most of your creditors excepting at this early stage.
dont really know about the account and your wages, but surely if its your wage they cant take that much. sorry I cant help on that but Im sure someone on the site can, maybe you should start your own thread on this question.
YM Thanks for the morning post, and your post last night did make me laugh. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Hello all.
Sorry can't help much with the wages question, but I think if you have problems with your DMP you should contact CCCS/Payplan to explain there may be a problem. They might be able to help you?
GE Money are still ringing me 3 times every day. Just spoken to them and they said your account is in arrears - yes I know I've told you pe ople every time and it's on my notes about CCCS have a look - oh yes we have your reference number there should have been a block put on the phone calls for a month, I'll do that now.
How come the last three people couldn't manage that???
Hopefully they'll shut up for a bit now.
Other than that - in the post I got money off vouchers for when you spend on your GE Money card - sigh.
Still no joy at finding a car - and if one more person suggests getting finance or a loan I'll scream at them!!! :mad:working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Hi everyone
welcome Hardleylisa
If you have read my other thread you will know I had a bit of a difficult time last night, feeling a bit better today, I have now actually started to realise that my brother finding out about my debts will be a good thing. He already helps me in loads of ways, pays for DD's school trips, buys her Tae-Kwon-Do kit and treats her to new clothes etc. He absolutely adores her and does it because he knows as a single parent it's a struggle and because he wants to !!. But now he knows about the debt he also understands why I am struggling so much. It will help a lot and maybe now I won't feel so bad when he traets her. He said he does it to make my life a little easier and because he loves her, so I shouldn't feel bad. I guess he's right (again!) don't you hate it when other people are right:rotfl:
Anyhoo feeling much brighter today, have got the house to myself because DD is at cub camp (in the rain!!), so I think I'm gonna pamper myself a bit, long hot bath, do my nails and lots of girlie stuff to heal my battered pride.
My friend has invited me round for a meal tonight so I'm going to chill all day and night.
Smile Thanks for the PM and all the love you sent my way, you are a treasure.:A

Evening all!
I've realised today how amazing this thread really is, how well I feel I know you all (even when I don't really, but you know what I mean!). I wanted to say a big massive thank you to everyone on it
YM - how is the meal planning going? I'm thinking a new title is called for here... "Meal-planning Magician" maybe??!
newlywed - sorry to hear about the car situation. It must be very infuriating when people suggest a loan. Like you wouldn't have though of that!! Hope you get something v soon.
Teecee - no need to thank me, I know you'd do the same for me. Big hugs.
hardleylisa - welcome :hello: Call CCCS as soon as you can. This is a very common issue, so they can help you through it out a block on your first payment if needs be. As for what you can do, do you know when your wages are due to come into your bank? If so, get to a cash point as soon as they come in (even midnight if that's the case!). Lift out as much as you can (£250 max per day usually). The bank are unlikely to action a transfer straight away - they aren't that efficient! I'd cancel all your DDs from that account and pay them by debit card from that account as soon as your money enters the account (most companies are happy to take a card payment, I had to do this. Just say that you are transferring banks but you've not been able to get the DDs set up in time for this month, but didn't want to miss a payment. They'll love you for this! If you are worried that they might think you are swapping banks due to money worries, say you are reclaiming your bank charges and wanted to set up a new account to be on the safe side - everyone is doing it). Try to get to the bank every day to withdraw as much as you can and get it into your new account, it's all about damage limitation. Good luck!!
amani - hi! Your posts have really been making me smile. Thanks
sweety - glad to hear things are moving along for you. You'll be up and running in no time :T
hunteress - sorry to hear about the od charges. I'm getting the same. It's so deflating, eh? Guess we just have to ride the storm. Do you think they will eventually accept the DMP? Fingers crossed.
Hi to ILGD, IDA and all the others. Hope you are well.
I'm having a night in (AGAIN) tonight, so may pop in a few times. See you for some banter if you are around, otherwise I may join the Eurovision Party thread - mayeb see you there too??
Take care,

Debt at March 2007: £26,728.32
Current debt: £00 -
Hi I'm new to the site but not new to the perils of debt! I signed up to my DMP at the beginning of November last year and have finally sorted my last creditor last Thursday - 6 months later!! I don't want anyone to lose faith but I do want you to know it's not necessarily an easy ride and it takes a great deal of patience.
I have 5 creditors one of whcih replied straight away (GE Capital) and said the offer was fine, interest and charges was then suspended. The second to accept was Cahoot - this was after they sent me debt collection letters and harassed me over the phone for a month. A complaint letter to their Customer Service Director sorted that one out.
Third was HSBC, they'd said they wouldn't accept the plan for £500 overdraft but so long as I creditted the account every 35 days no further action would be taken although they wouldn't stop interest and charges. They said they would only offer another form of loan which basically makes the overdraft a fixed term loan at almost 20% APR, needless to say I declined!
Egg were also a little tricky to deal with offering the usual 'oh sorry madam it doesn't appear that we've received anything from CCCS', although a recorded delivery slip with their signature on it soon changed that story!
And last but by no means least was Sainsbury's Bank, what an absolute joke. Like all my other creditors they received the pack from CCCS, several duplicates of this from me (sent recorded delivery) 11 emails and 19 faxes. Not to mention me answering ALL their calls. I got to a point where I couldn't deal with it anymore and decided that they could do what they wanted. I had fax confirmations, royal mail slips and notes of all the phone calls I'd made and received; I figured they could just take me to court.
Out of the blue last week I received a text (following the 6 phone calls I'd already received that day) asking me to call them on a landline number, and as I figured it didn't look like a call centre number, I took my chances. After explaining my circumstances for the thousandth time, the lady on the phone said 'that's not a problem we can set it up over the phone, has no one offered to do that for you?' I refrained from telling her what I truly felt and instead saw it as a glimmer of hope and grabbed onto it.
I now have all my creditor arrangements in place and am prepared for when they want to review my case (no doubt that will be sorted immediately if I receive a pay rise!)
As usual with all major corporate banks it's a struggle to be heard and there were days when I'd rather have chopped my arm off than explain my situation again.
All I wanted to say is stick with it, don't let them frighten you into backing out of the plan, keep ALL your letters, keep a note book of ALL phonecall times and ALWAYS take the name and department of the person you spoke to. If you want any advice on dealing with any of the creditors listed above please feel free to ask.
Good Luck and remember, no amount of phonecalls and letters can be as bad as where you'd be if you weren't on a DMP.0 -
In response to the questions around making additional payments, the advice I was given was this...
If you receive extra money DO NOT pay it to CCCS, your creditors can accuse you of not being honest about your earnings and refuse to operate under the terms of a DMP. The advice also suggested that you should absolutely not pay it off one creditor alone. When your plan is reviewed, all creditors see information about your balance with each of them, it would onyl take one beady eyed individual to notice a greater decrease in one balance than another.
The advice I was given was to put any additional monies into a savings account (easier said than done I know!) eventually the balance in the savings will equal one of your creditor balances and you ARE able ot pay them off in full, as the DMP cannot stop you from having a savings account.
That's what I've been doing and I'm 150 quid off paying off one creditor.
Hope that helps?0 -
Hi.
Thanks for that finallygettingsomewhere. It is nice to hear from someone who has experienced what i am expecting as i have just sent off first payment to Payplan.

Hello all,
Been an age since I've been on here - hope you're all okay.
I've got a couple of suggestions for earning money, is that allowed on this thread?
If it is, I'll post them. If not I'll go elsewhere ;-)
