HI there
I am considering a dmp but don't know whether to go with CCCS or payplan and wondered what people think?
Also how will it affect me buying a house in the future if I decide to go ahead with it?I think I may also need a new car at some point as mine is on its way out!
Any help much appreciated:)0 -
Hi guys :hello:
Hello Sea - good to have you back. What a nightmare having to sort out bills etc. Suppose you'll feel better once it's done. I laughed when I read your bit about the parcels.... I'm literally just in from the PO. Had to post 14 items, including one airmail to Norway and two huge heavy things which went off the scale. I let a couple of people in front of me cos know it would take ages, but eventually I had to get myself served. The people behind me were huffing and puffing - I felt so bad!! Anyway, £26 of postage later it's all gone :T Just in time to upload the next lot! Keep smiling poppet - you're doing brilliantly.
Hi YM - thanks for your concern. I'm feeling a wee bit better today. Thinking it's being on school holidays, I'm giving myself time to think, which is a dangerous thing. There are a couple of big things and a few littler(!) things happening outside of the financial treacle we are swimming in. If I could deal with them in the same way I'm dealing with my debts I'd be a happy bunny. Of course, everything seems easier having you guys to speak to, so thanks :kisses3:
Hi Scottishmummy - hope the DD thing works out. Maybe we should organise a DMP North Region Supporters Club camping holiday in Arran or somewhere! It would be my only holiday
Great news on the account newlywed :j Things are really moving for you now.
Hi lonely - snogged Phil Mitchell yet? :rotfl:
Hi IDA!
toasti - welcome to our gang!! Kelly will sort out a number for you  As far as PP/CCCS are concerned I think they are both very good and offer practically the same services. Both are spoken of highly and none of us can really compare them because we are only with one or the other. Maybe the other lovely peeps have a viewpoint?
Interesting question about the mortgage issue, very topical for me. I've been checking it out on the other forums and it seem we could get one through a specialised broker, but it would be a "sub-prime" mortgage, i.e. for people with credit issues. Means a higher rate. However, I'd still be better off in both the short and long term if I bought (a few bargainous properties around here - private renting is sucking the life out of me and I have no idea how I'll find a new rental property in August with rental agencies doing credit checks). I'm not sure what PP/CCCS and our creditors would say to it though, as theoretically it's more credit which we shouldn't be taking. However, it's secured debt and if it's going to work out cheaper (depending on rates of course) the more money the creditors get and more equity we build upI have a feeling that many people would encourage us not to take out the mortgage though... Any views guys?
As for the car credit, it's not really secured unless it's proper hire purchase. I have a feeling it would be a no no, but check with the pros. I know what you mean though, I'll def need a new car within my 15 year DMP and there's NO way I could afford a cash buy :rotfl:
Hope that helps a little bit. Glad you found us :T

Any help much appreciated:)
Know the feeling but unfortunately don't have the answer for that one. My car is 18 years old and extremely likely to fail its MOT (this month). So I will be stuck. Hoping that I will be able to get a second hand car very cheap, but if not I may have to ask CCCS what I should do about it as bus fare would work out more expensive than running a car (plus no bus route to pick the step kids up).
I've not started my DMP yet though. Guess the other option would be to delay it for a month, not pay anyone any minimum payments and then use that money. I dunno either. Sorryworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Hi newlywed - sorry to hear about your car. Hmm... I'd be tempted to delay starting it by one month, as in the grand scheme of things it's not that bit a deal. Maybe that's not the right thing though. Dunno. Need some perils/pearls(?!) of wisdom from the others.
Let me know what you decide to do.Member #4 of the DMP Mutual Support Club - DFW Nerd #335

Can someone remind me, who was the brave person on this thread that phoned all their creditors and got them to stop interest? If you are out there, how long did you wait after they had received their first payment?I'm moving on up now,
