Congrats on your good news today. Long may it continue.:j
Forgot to say done my first meal plan this week and stuck (NEARLY) to list. Total £45. Not bad for a family of 4. This was also done with DD's who want everthing they can see;)
Talking of cleaning on an earlier post I really need to get hold of some of these Stardrops that everone is raving about!

Morning everyone
That's great news Newlywed.:T
Smile I hope everything goes okay for you. Everyone is allowed to have a bit of a whinge and that is a good enough reason.
YM congratulations on keeping to budget. :T We have done a meal planner with a £35 budget for a family of 4. But this doesn't include the cost of the meat as we go to Costco about every 3 months and stock up on mince, stewing steak and fish. Probably about another £80 worth.
Well I bit the bullet and phoned the mortgage company to explain re cancelled DD and they were absolutely fine about it. I offered to pay this months installment by switch and she said to wait until Friday as they might still attempt to take it again anyway even though I cancelled the DD as there is a possibility I didn't cancel it in time - which means I'll get a charge on my bank account today but hopefully not. However I went and checked my online bank account (Nationwide) and I didn't realise it before but I can reinstate my DD's that I have cancelled. So if all four companies that I cancelled try again in a couple of days then they will get their money. So that saves me filling out new DD mandates. So what I am now going to do is head into town to pay the money in then come back here and reinstate the DD's then I'll wait until tomorrow to phone the three other companies and let them know just to try again. Hopefully this will not happen again as Bank Holidays will be etched in my brain forever. Actually what we are going to do is transfer a full months amount of DD money across into the Nationwide once a month so that we know it is covered. We will have to raid the kids accounts for the first month then just build up what goes in to our other account then transfer it across for the next month and so on. Will have to pay the kids about £250 each back but should be able to do that in a couple of months.
Now you know how I can't stand chocolate:p :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Well ages ago I emailed for a free sample of Nestle Heaven. Was told about it on another forum. Anyway it arrived today and was a full size bar of the Milk Truffle variety. I say WAS because it ain't anymore. Now it is a scrumpled up empty bit of paper foil in the bin - delicious!!!The person who moves a mountain begins by carrying small stones.

Hi
scottishmummy
Good afternoon to you and congrats on your news.
I know how I can reduce my expenditure immediatly. Just before xmas I gave up smoking but have now started again unfortunatly. I had forgot how much they are to buy. Cant see myself giving up at the moment due to impending stress. I am lucky in the fact that I can travel to France for £1 each way and Belguim is not to far. Still may use my perk to have a cheap camping holiday in France this year. Should really use this cheap travel a bit more espcially as i am now a debt free wannabee.

Do you take passengers?DH keeps telling me I would love France but the chances of us going there in the near future are .....nil. Might see how much the ferry from Rosyth is but probably a lot more than my camping budget will allow.

Hi
Scottishmummy.
Just seen your post as i was tucking up for the day.
I should go over more often but for me it is a busmans holiday. Mind you the food is soooo much cheaper over there. Perhaps I should do my weekly shop in Carrefour

That's great news - you did you go with for the bank account?Hi everyone,
Got my new cheque book and Visa debit card (and its not an electron card so that's a bonus!!).
Also got my new mobile PAYG sim card so I can try and give everyone and updated contact number (for a switched off phone!!)
Have written asking for PPI to be taken off my loan - will be posting that today - hopefully the answer will be yes.
Cancelled all the DD's that have come out of my old account. Now need to get wages transferred. Then I can send everything off to CCCS and get the DMP rolling.I'm moving on up now,

I applied online for an Alliance and Leicester Premier account (but you have to have over £500 a month go into the account). When you go through it all you can request no overdraft, no linked credit card etc.
Much easier than trying to speak to the staff in branch as they just couldn't understand why I didn't want any overdraft and couldn't tell me which accounts came with no overdraft but with a cheque book and debit card
Plus you get online banking as well as telephone banking and they don't charge any monthly fees for having a current account with them (unlike First Direct). Oh and they open a linked online savings account for you too.
After I did this... I remembered Quidco!!! Too late now though.
Edit: Have now posted my letter requesting removal of PPI from my loan.Hope they will reply quickly.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Hi all - hope everyone had a lovely Easter & big hugs to those who didn't or who have had hassling letters/phone calls. I'm sorry I can't catch up with all the posts and details - will try!!:)
All going on here - now have to work out what bills to split as OH isn't giving me 'all' his money now we're separating despite the fact he knows it's all earmarked. Grrr. So today I have to take 21 parcels to the PO and send the hge items etc and then work out the finances and also get some legal advice and look after the children. Hmmm....
