I was having that problem with my laptop too - sent it away and they fixed the fan. Apparently it's a problem with laptops.

I've asked this question in another thread, but I don't know whether I worded it right, so here goes again -

CCCS are counting my bank account's overdraft as one of my debts (logically enough), and they also say that all of my creditors need the letter (with token payment etc) stating my intentions to go with CCCS on the DMP.

They also suggest closing down the account. I'm awaiting approval from another bank to get their basic one (Citibank), so presumably I'll have to do this after I get that set up - the only thing I don't get is would I then ask them to close my account? And if so, how would payments work going into them?

Everything else makes sense to me at the moment, it's just I don't 'get' this bit of the puzzle - it'd be very nice for them to close it (thus saving my the account fee per month), but I don't see them doing this!

How did you guys sort this one out?

    Thanks very much.

    Debt-free and Proud!
You set up the new account and start to have your income go into it. Then your current account overdraft becomes a debt like any other and, as such, it will be included in your CCCS payments.

How you actually close it I don't know but I assumed Nat West would close mine by their decision, not mine. You certainly won't be able to use it.

Interesting point Joek - I have the same dilemma with Hellifax and Nastywest, but didn't think about it until you mentioned it.

  • I've had this situation with with Yorkshire Bank - have opened an account with Nationwide, transfered all DD and wages to the new account. Then sent in my DMP letters from cccs to the bank.
They have closed the accounts with outsatnding overdraft balances and transefered them to their collection department.
Just waiting to hear if they are going to accecpt offer through cccs.
Had a conversation with someone from the bank that said I would get weekly/daily calls and if a solicotor sends a letter on the banks behalf, they will charge £20 per letter!
sorting my life out, then my debts

Oh my goodness... I have officially turned into a DFW Nerd. It's almost 4am on a Saturday night/Sunday morning and I have just finished a mammoth 4 hour clear out of all my paperwork, financial docs, statements, letters, bills etc.

I had so many, I couldn't bear to try and find something, so I opened a bottle of wine and got started. It took me ages, but feel proud of myself. Looking at the statements and seeing the balances rising with each new month brought on a lot of soul searching.

Anyway, most of it is now in the bin, the remaining bits in a snazzy (but not expensive!) documents file thingie with little labels telling me where to put things.

Hope you all had lovely evenings and speak tomorrow :rolleyes2

P.S. Sorry for rabitting on... I had a strange need to tell someone I'd done all of this - bizarre!

Hi everyone hope you are all well.

    Well done smilealot!

I did the same thing about two weeks ago it must be a DFW thing.
joek - i was with the co-op bank, i got a letter from them saying that because i was now arranging a DMP and no longer satisfied their terms and conditions they were giving me thirty days notice that they were closing my account. They are one of my creditors (£5445 o/s) they asked me to send back my cheque book and cards and i assume that they will close the account and i won't have to do anything else!

Ah, thanks for that. As soon as I get my new account, I'll send them the DMP letter and let them faff about closing it down - I imagine as soon as they see my salary being whipped off and put into another place, they'll soon close things down!
