If you take them back then you've not actually spent that money because you get it back again.

Feeling that bad about buying trousers is a good thing, as means you are changing and won't end up back where you started. And well done for taking back. I wasn't so good in end anyway, as had budgeted £30 for shoes, found some at £22 so treated me and 2 yr old to a macdonalds- although did only have a happy meal!t0

Hi everyone
alfredsmum - well done for taking those trousers back - not sure I would've!!
Today has been a massive day for me not only did I finally apply to go on a DMP with CCCS now waiting for the forms etc but also for the first time ever took a shopping list and budget with me and stuck to it when doing weekly shop - I know it doesn't sound much but in my addled life it's a milestone. These have both been down to the posts I have read on this website :T
My next task is to explain to my partner exactly how a DMP works - i.e banks calling to try and get me to pay more etc. He is already very sceptical about a DMP and I'm worrying that his reaction will be to tell me not to do it - am feeling very sick. Help!Total debt £ 20,000 as of March 07

Hi everyone!
By god did I get a lot of mail today. Unfortunately nothing great - couple of letters from Egg mumbling on about the credit law and me not paying it back blah blah blah. I think they're all automated anyway, so I'm not worried about them much.
Got a letter from CCCS though - about my egg loan account number not being the correct one...well, I checked and double checked, and it looked right to me! Finally found a glint of info that might make sense to someone, so I've emailed it all over to them, with a scan of the last nasty letter from them, so hopefully that'll sort them out!
All that and I got my Citibank paying in book! :T Yay!
Woo...that was all about me wasn't it? Sorry folks...I hope everybody's had a good day (or at the very least...bearable![/b]).
Now, a special section for ex-spend...

1. Did you get an online instant decision?
No, I got a letter through asking me to send through some i.d, and then it was a week - ten days after that
2. Where you already in the DMP when you applied?
Well, I'd been accepted on it, but I hadn't sent anything through. I don't think it matter with CCCS - all they ask you to do is set up a new basic account with someone!
3. Are you paying a charge every month to have it?
No charge (thankgod!) - CCCS are a charity, so it's all done for free, and the bonus is that they're one of the two (Payplan being the other that the banks get on with!
4. Did you get the overdraft or tick no? I no I should by now tick no on these things but old habits die hard.
No overdraft. Didn't even want to consider it!
5. Any idea how strict their credit checks are?
Well, I think they went through a phase of being incredibly lenient, but since so many DFWs have applied, I think they've been tightening up. However, considering I owe £40,000+, if they accepted me, then I suspect there'd be a good chance for you:)
6. Did you get a debit card?
Yup, a debit card which is a proper VISA one (not electron etc). It's not a chequebook guarentee one though, but you can order a cheque book easily enough!
7. Are there plenty of cash machines that take their cards?
Now this I haven't tried, but apparantly all LINK ones can be used for free - can't be bad!
I hope that helps a bit!
I can certainly recommend them - online banking was a doddle to set up too!Chuffed to be member 11 on the DMP mutual support thread.

Hello all,
Hope someone can help!
About to send my DMP notifications off - do I send a covering letter or just the form?
Cheers all,

VivCk - I did send a covering note with mine...simply stating my intentions and restating the Client and phone number etc.
Nothing much, just polite and to the point!Chuffed to be member 11 on the DMP mutual support thread.
