    Hi VivCk

I find having just one basic account is sufficient. Remember that if you need to transfer money between banks in an emergency (unplanned for payments or whatever) takes at least three working days (unless you withdraw from one and deposit IN BRANCH to the other - I never have time for this with work).

I have a current account (money for DDs, SOs and £50 if poss as cushion for things I've forgotten, savings account (with reserve pots for insurance, hair, dentists etc.). I'm also planning to open an instant access ISA for substantial savings (over £100) to save up any extra income to pay lump sum creditors. Not that I ever get a chance to make savings right now, but hopefully I will once everything is operating smoothly and I become better at budgeting (and stop driving into bloomin' pheasants!!!).

It's completely up to you, I just like the simplicity now, compared to having 3 banks, many credit cards etc before - it's how I got in such a mess.

    Hope that helps, even slightly.

Hi teecee!!! I've missed you guys too, I did have to sit on my hands when I finished my lesson planning at 1am this morning, as sleep needed to be higher up on my priority... falling asleep whilst being observed teaching a lesson is never a good move!

The sweets thing is fun, eh?!

    Hi Smile,

Thanks for this - good point. Think I'll keep 2 accounts tho, one for 'official' stuff, one for spending/saving. Got to try to save up coz I'm convinced something will go wrong - like the boiler or something - and since we're not allowed credit I've no idea how I'd pay for it!

    Hi.

Just a quick update. Checked my new bank account this morning and my wages have gone in:j :j
I cancelled all my S/O and DD on my old First Direct account. The days of talking and thinking about what to do are over. I have started now. Wonder how long before the phone calls and letters begin ,but, thanks to you Guys I have the faith and courage to see this through. Also expecting a call today from Payplan to speak to my advisor. So far so good. Hope you have a great day and all your post today is good news.
Must go now as I am at work.

    Speak to you all later
