  • Morning

Good god have we only been here a month? I feel like I've been here for years. :rotfl:

Nothing to report at my end. Received a CCCS postal statement yesterday. Hopefully that will be the last one as I have set up a Standing Order.

    I must must must:

    Send that endowment letter
    Claim back bank charges
    List more stuff on ebay

Talking of ebay they annoyed me yesterday. I listed a mobile phone. In the title I put Nokia 6280 3G Camera Phone. They took my listing off as apparently I was keyword spamming. Eh no actually I was describing the phone as it was. Not amused and it makes me want to just throw a load of stuff into the charity shop and save myself the hassle.

Hope you all have good days.

  • JoeK can I ask you about the Citibank account? I'm trying to work up the courage to apply for one so wanted to pick your brain.

    1. Did you get an online instant decision?
    2. Where you already in the DMP when you applied?
    3. Are you paying a charge every month to have it?
    4. Did you get the overdraft or tick no? I no I should by now tick no on these things but old habits die hard.
    5. Any idea how strict their credit checks are?
    6. Did you get a debit card?
    7. Are there plenty of cash machines that take their cards?

I think I really need to get us another joint account somewhere so that if the !!!!!! hits the fan if I go for bank charges that we'll be ok. I'm terrified of rejection though. I want someone to say yes.
  • Hi Winkus

    Hi
I really appreciate all your advice. :A
Been dead organised today went through income & expenditure online with CCCS, realised things may not be that bad after all. Contacted egg, who majority of debt with and they've agreed to 3 mth pymt hol whilst on mat leave, I have opened a new bank a/c that I'm going to transfer all my dd's to and only use for bills, so know EXACTLY what is left at the end of the month, and listed loads of rubbish sorry treasures on ebay, I'm thinking of innotive (BUT LEGAL) ways to make money .

Know that I may just be prolonging things but at least will know I have tried to sort out before doing DMP, If all fails and still can't manage then you guys have made me realise not end of world. If I can still be part of the dmp support thread without a dmp I'll let you know how get on.

Which leads me onto another question, I had bad charges on a cc from Alliance and Leicester that I havn't had a balance on for about a yr, but is still open, I want to try and reclaim charges but were about 2 yrs ago- will they charge me for old statements as don't think I have?

ps funniest thing of all about all this is that about 6 yrs ago I used to work in Abbey's debt managment dept for mortgages!!- although I promise I was never judgemental & tried to help where possible (although not all my collegues were and think thats what scared me)!.

Not posted for a week but keep logging on and trying to keep up. (soo many posts)!
It's lovely for everyone to be in same boat and understand, until found you lot thought there was only me who had managed to get into such a mess. All friends earn loads more so money never an issue.OH knows i'm in debt but thinks about 10 x less than actually is, and he's so good with money he's never even had a credit card so see no reason to worry him. (He can't sleep if owes someone a fiver)!

I'm still waiting for new bank a/c no so havn't managed to tranfer dd's across yet, but this week made £100 on ebay, which meant could tax car for a year rather than 6 mths so one less thing to worry about.

I have completly changed spending habits, not used cc cards once, is payday tomorrow and have £30 left-normally unheard of. Going to use this to get 2 yr old some shoes as desperately needs and due to strange feet shape have to buy clarkes which are sooo expensive (ScottishMummy, sure I read your post somwhere that is a cheap website that do clarkes shoes, do you have site address)?

Did online shop and planned meals for week, spent £23 when if had actually gone to Asda would have spent about £50 and ended up throwing half of it.

Meeting friend tomorrow and would normally have been a trip to a retail outlet spending money on cc's on things don't need followed by pizza hut. Came clean and are just meeting for coffee instead, only taking £3 with me so not tempted. Thing is would have been so embarrased in past to say was poor, but now proud of every penny saved.

Just want to say big thanks for all support and just nice to read all lovely messages even if not meant directly for you. I'm not sure actually reduced debts yet but definately stopped adding to them and feel much more in control. Also if feel wobbly and want to bid on ebay for something I don't need, log on here instead & keep focused.

Also registered with a couple of mystery shopping sites, got £15 towards a haircut so had a lovely cut for £7 instead of £22 and got parking & petrol paid, all I had to do was note what produts I was offered & didn't have to buy anything-result! :j
Right off to look into claiming back credit card charges. Byeee

    Hi Neith
Thanks lonely for comments as you see I had the same problem with morgan stanley but we buckled and paid up. MUST BE STRONGER IN THE FUTURE!!

I learnt from experience, don't worry. The first time I spoke to them I was so innocent and naive, I told them my whole life story, thinking the man on the phone would understand and be sympathetic. Basically he made me feel like I was doing something illegal and morally wrong, and that my DMP would never be accepted anyway so I was wasting my time. He nearly made me cry but it made me stronger for the next time I dealt with MS- that's when they were pressuring me for a holding payment otherwise shock, horror it would go to a collection agency. I was thinking, well I hope it does, then the interest will probably stop. They have been the worse creditor to deal with. The try to wear you down by talking at you. But it sounds like you will stick to your guns the next time!
    I'm moving on up now,
    Out of the darkness,
My life shines on, my life shines on, my life shines on ;)

  • Good morning money savers, just wanted to say well done to alfredsmum for changing habits and sticking to your guns, makes me feel even worse for what im about to say....

Forgive me debt free wannabees for I have sinned ..... yesterday when popping to the shopping centre to get a pint of milk i was drawn into the evil Principles who had far too tempting 50% off signs in their window. In a moment of weakness I ended up buying a gorgeous pair of trousers which I neither need or can afford and now I feel terrible about it. I've been doing so well and now I just feel rubbish :(

I have seen the error of my ways and will be going back there tonight to return the item of badness to the evil shop that it came from, then go home to repent.

In the past I would have felt great about my new purchase and worn it into work the next day but now I know I shouldnt do it I couldnt even bring myself to try them on. Anyway - will take them back and put the money into my jar for the easter holidays x

    Hope I can be forgiven?
I've learnt that life isnt about what you have it's about who have.:T
