Right I must be off to bed. My eyes are going all funny from looking at this screen too long!!
Night all.:j Proud to be No. 49 of the DMP Mutual Support Club:j
DMP through CCCS started April 2007
I can see clearly now the rain has gone
8lb lost so far on Slimming World - 18lb to go!!!!!0 -
I would say it would become quite addictive. I know if I could get charges from one creditor back I would go nuts and start on them all. It really is a nice prospect - 2 bank accounts in the black and several hundreds of pounds knocked off CCs, loans etc. I'm sure the debt on my DMP could probably go down by £1000.
If I want to claim on my joint accounts do I need my OH to be signing too or can I just claim myself?0 -
Your other half would need to sign the letter I would imagine. I claimed for my DH (capital one) and just got him to sign the letter. He didnt even know what he was signing!!!!
Off to bed now but will be back tommorow if you have any questions. Sleep well.

Sorry to be green but what's a DMP?
I've been taking tips from you guys and started drawing out a cash allowance for myself every week, after the bills are paid. I read someone said that it's a lot harder to hand over a £10 note than a debit card and !! how right they were!! Certainly curbed my spending drastically
I've also just sold a load of stuff on Ebay, and used the money to buy some hol clothes (off Ebay too) and ended up £25 in profitAnd I've discovered https://www.freecycle.org which is a good way of getting rid of stuff that's too big for Ebay - no cash involved but there's a lovely warm fuzzy feeling that you're being 'green' and it's amazing what stuff you can get!

Just found this thread - will read thru it all later for hints & tips etc.
Sent off my forms tp CCCS yesterday and then got notified today of a pay rise. Am tempted to keep it to myself but had better "own up". Assume my DMP starts April...
Not happy with some of the figures they gave me tho - £5 a month for emergencies (what happens if the boiler breaks down?); £13 a month for dentist/optician (have they seen the prices?) - so I might ask for more. £5 a month for entertainment but expect I can sneak some out of the food etc budget for that.
All new to me this budgeting lark - but expect I'll get used to it. Have signed up to Pigsback, was already on Quidco but had hardly used it. Am going to ebay/Amazon some books and other stuff when I get around to it - still got debt sorting out to do so that takes precedence.
Off back to the beginning of this thread now!

Hello and welcome Redhead
It's a debt management plan. Basically if you are overcommitted with expenditure you can contact the likes of CCCS or Payplan and come to an arrangement to make smaller payments to your creditors. Normally they will freeze interest and charges too. You can also do your own DMP.

I love freecycle too. My tumbledryer broke down. I put it on thinking no-one would want it and 14 people contacted me. Saved me getting it to the dump and meant someone got something they could hopefull repair and make use of.0 -
Welcome to Vivck.
Have you any pets? If not you could still claim a couple on the DMP. I've read of a few people doing that. Also you will find that some budgets you'll not use all the money from eg you may not spend all the food money so can use it on a night out or whatever.0 -

There are many worse things in life you could have done - you're dealing with it now, give yourself a break.
xx
I know that I have single handedly ruined my OH's credit rating. I know it's right and I know I am the lowest of the low for everything. The one saving grace is that he would never wish to apply for credit.[/QUOTE]"If lust is a sin then I hold my hands up"
