Thats what I mean Ex my house is probably only worth £115k and the insurance doesn't even include the additional 2.5 rooms we are turning the attic into:confused: . I do plan on shopping for it through Quidco, that, and dog insurance as I see someone else got quite a bit back on that too recently. I'll check out directline and probably Churchill too as we have the cars insured through them although they are one that says 3 years no claims to beat your renewal.

  • Hi everyone, I've not been on here for a while but thought I'd post as I've been on a DMP with the CCCS since my lightbulb moment in December 2005

Since then I've cut my debt by almost £2,500 - still a long way to go but it's in the right direction!

Best thing you can do is tell friends / family what your situation is - with their support its amazing what you can do and if they are really your true friends then they will understand and won't put you under pressure to spend money.

Keep your chins up... I was a stressed out mad-woman before the DMP but although i know i still have money problems they don't weigh me down like they used to and I feel as if I'm in control again.

    Hi Charlie2301.

Welcome to the chirpiest area of DFW, where talking about sweets and dogs (and bunnies) seem to be of equal importance as talking about our debts!

Ex-Spend - you're making me paranoid about this....this....imposter faffing on about morgages.

Although, if he's (she's?) giving good advise, then I'll be happy to take the credit.

  • forgot to mention - finally decided to day to sort out the bank charge claiming thingy. Turns out it's £1270 excluding interest over 2 years.... no wonder i'm in debt! Not sure how i'll get on as the account is overdrawn and being paid slowly through DMP but it's worth a shot, anything I get back will go straight towards the debt.... we'll see.

Wonder if you could wangle a deal whereby they settle the overdraft in lieu of the bank charge?

  • Hoping that's what I'll go for - the OD is approx £950 so if they go for anything around that I'll settle. Had a look on the bank charges site but not many success stories with the Abbey. Then again, bet they haven't taken on a firey redhead yet... they won't know whats hit them

ps, I'd like to join this club if poss - love talking about sweeties. Yesterday I got 750g bag of Thornton's continental at the outlet shop for £1.49, does that count as money saving?:EasterBun :rotfl:
