thanks everyone for your kind welcoming responses.

scottishmummy I see from previous posts you have had your DMP for a while How have you found it all?? Feel like im at the edge of a big pit at the minute

To be honest I hardly think twice about the dmp now. The payment leaves my account on the 1st of the month and I know that hopefully I'm not going to get any bothering letters or phonecalls. BoS are the only ones that tend to get in touch every so often wanting updates and Moorcroft keeping offering full & final settlement figures but I spoke with CCCS after I received the last one as it was for £375 which I could probably have scraped together by robbing the kids accounts and scrimping for a bit but they said that my other creditors would wonder where I got the money from and would be looking for me to find that much extra every month. so now if I do manage to save any extra I put it aside and hopefully will be able to pay a bit off my mortgage instead. Extra payments have to be a minimum of £500 though so it could take some time. That's why I'm on here now, to get tips on cutting down further and hopefully giving good advice to people like yourself.

Talking of tips I notice when some of you have posted your SOA's your house insurance seems incredibly low. Especially compared to the size of your mortgages. e.g. a mortgage of £700 so I'm presuming a fair sized house but only £10 house insurance. I'm looking to cut my insurance as it is currently £40.38 a month:eek: for building and contents. Okay we made a claim on it a couple of years ago which put it up but it seems really expensive compared to others. Most companies I have looked at want you to be claim free for at least three years. I am not certain but think it was only 2 years ago we claimed for roof damage. Can any of you recommend any companies that don't mind if a claim has been made.

Wow! I come back from work, and there are 4 whole pages to go through!

Lots of rather good info and advice too (as usual...).

Welcome to hopeful - another member to join the happy throng!

yellowmonkey - you be careful now, or we'll be starting to call you 'old man monkey' with all the advice you're giving out ;)

All quiet on my front (a good thing). Sorted out my insurance debits and phone ones for my new account.

Think I'm pretty much set up now, which is good.

Next thing - where's smile? I dunno, she takes my stars, and then leaves me :D

    Oh well!

Good to see everyone getting along nicely though!

That's what this site is all about.

Is that the Tesco value lager? DH drinks that stuff and I don't know how he can do it - it's vile. I'ld rather he splash out 55p for a can of Strongbow at least then it's worth drinking BEFORE going down the toilet:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

    hi all!!!
YM glad that you feeling a bit better!
All very quiet here with me, i had to work all day today 7am-8pm and have to do it all again tomoz. I did have a phonecall from 1st credit who have taken over the 78 pound arrears on my moneyshop loan, and i actually spoke to a nice man, who when i explaind about the DMP said he would chase up Moneyshop and see if they are going to accept my offer, otherwise 1st credit will take over and they would accept!!! So i guess thats a good thing!!!
Hope all are ok and sending hugs too everyone:grouphug:

Scottishmummy I have a large semi worth about £350K (ish). I used to pay £25 per month for buildings and contents. I have reinsured with Directline and it's now costing me £14 per month. The policy includes accidental damage on buildings and contents plus you get free family travel insurance. I had a claim this time last year when my child knocked a glass of orange over my laptop. I have declared this and it didn't seem to cause a problem.

The best thing is that I bought this insurance through quidco so will get £75 cashback. :j Have a look at Quidco there are several companies on there offering house insurance with cashback deals. I went with DL as a few of the companies won't insure in NI.

Evening Joek (I still can't cope with looking at the mortgage board and seeing your namesake giving out serious financial advice) :rotfl: :rotfl:

    Hi

Afraid it is. I am afraid my days of drinking cider are a long and distant memory.
1 Litre before the School disco shared between 4 of us. We would stagger to the hall and wait until the ,walk around slowly until the music stops dance, had finished. Mind you that was 1976 and Leo Sayer was singing then instead of being on Celebrity big brother:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
