The word "peggies" sends me into irrational rage. Your children are not growing pegs in their mouths, they have TEETH.

I'm sure some of you are making these up... 'cool bananas'?!?...'burglarized'?!?!?

Sometimes I say something because I know it's annoying.
    'Whatevs..' really annoys people ;)

No, crossing the number 7 is a really sensible idea. I think it's a mathematician's thing to do.

Why risk it being confused with a 1 with a top but without a bottom? There's often no context to distinguish the two as they are interchangeable, so you need to be sure that when written they are clearly different.

In other European countries 1s do look more like our 7s

I often put a / through a zero to show it is a number rather than a letter.

I agree with sarymclary on the use of haitch. I can't help it, I have to correct whoever says it.

It's not quite the same thing but crossing the number 7 is infuriating, and as for stupid women who flap their hands in front of their faces like seals in a circus...arrgghhhhh!!!!!!

Really maddening are these so-called celebrity chefs. I've always managed to cook successfully without suffixes, ie fry off, brown off, cook off - what is wrong with fry, brown, cook? Then there's pan-fry. What do you fry in other than a pan for goodness sake?! And so on...I swear they know when I'm watching and do it even more

I would say Haitch, aitch sounds wrong to be, everyone I know says haitch, although I am in Ireland, it probably comes from the Irish language somehow. I do remember being told that catholics say Haitch and protestants say Aitch. I also say ah for a, whereas in England in tends to be ay. Strangely - If it a capital A, i would ay(My own name starts with A, and has a in it elsewhere, i pronounce the first letter as Ay and then the next occurence of it as Ah)

inappropriate use of the word 'myself' when it should just be 'me' - drives me insane every time I hear it - especially on TV - does no-one check grammar any more!

Basically I was like thinking that peeps should literally chillax about all this - until I came to this post. Bl00dy hate this "So as I was saying to yourself earlier, I find it difficult to do that myself".

In staff meetings at work, I rather like to play a game of bull $h!t bingo - Write the following words

    Synergies
    Blue sky
    environmental
    sustainable
    green
    stratagies
    value added
    win win

    and others like this

    http://www.lovelyjane.btinternet.co.uk/!!!!!!!!.htm

and yell "Bingo" when they all get ticked off :rotfl:

Someone told me to "Populate the content" when they meant "fill in the detail".

My kids often tell me about the "funniest thing EVER", "the worst thing EVER", "we had the best lesson EVER"

But I am guilty of over using literally and do often say things like "innit, wel jel, whatever" in a poor attempt at comedy / trying to elicit groans from teenagers.

I told my class the other day that you could "literally draw a metaphorical line" :o:rotfl:
