what two words in one/sayings irritate you?

My wife and I always have a chuckle at 'pan fried' whenever we see it on a menu.
To be fair, I think it is used to differentiate from deep fried.0 -
Here is another one I just read in the paper... LOB (it means long bob :rotfl: Victoria Beckham has a LOB now:rotfl:) so when she had a short bob was it a SOB?:rotfl:
My OH said he overheard the other day 'bumbies' he asked what it meant and they said 'bum boobies' she has lovely 'bumbies':rotfl:
This shortening of words is really too much:rotfl:0 -

wean > wee'un > wee oneIt's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.0 -
Although I am guilty of "didn't want to read and run":o ....
This one has always puzzled me, when I've read it on here!! Who would know if you'd just read it and not responded??
As for "weans" for children, that is more to do with region than using "wrong" words, up here they are "bairns".0 -

When I first saw kk I thought it was a mistake. Then I kept on seeing it. I don't even get it! If you're abbreviating ok to one letter then 'k' is the only way you can shorten it surely? Or does the other 'k' have another meaning?
I also dislike but can put up with the terms used on here for relatives - dh, ds, dd etc. unless people go around calling them dear or darling whoever all the time then you don't need to do it on here! You notice the above 3 are the common ones - cos blokes don't use them nearly as much to the extent that I don't think I've seen dw used.0 -

the first "d" doesn't have to mean "dear" or "darling" though - you can subsitute any "d" adjective you like!

Have you noticed how many people, when asked a question, start off their answer with "absolutely" ! Especially on TV, journalists do it, MP's do it....That really bugs me.
A similar one, usually said by sports people whilst being interviewed is starting each reply with "yeah no" :mad:14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
Not so much words but emails with the heading "!" and over use of !!!!!. Any need?0

What ever, are the two I dislike0
