April fool - i wish!!!! The owner of the garage never received the money according to him as the salesman done a bunk with not just mine but 3 other lots of money.0 -
he had more chance of getting some money back by re-acquiring the vehicle rather than chasing the employee who done a bunk with the money - lets face it, if they catch the employee, its not likely thats hes going to have the money sat in his pocket.
He should be claiming from his insurers rather than defrauding you 5 weeks after the sale.
If it were me I'd want to know who his insurers and public liability insurers are so I could make a phone call and tell them how he's not declaring his risks. Can't be cheap insuring a whole car sales business and its stock - I'll bet incidents of theft by employess would put his insurance right up into the £Mega range :rotfl:0 -

Theft by employee (As is theft by the public by fraudulent means) is generally excluded by most Insurance policies of any type.
It's possible to buy the cover, it means the employer has to follow strict rules when employing staff and is fairly expensive. It's the type of cover you can offer people and they will tell you they don't need it. If they ever have a problem they will be falling over themselves to buy it for the future but as they then have a history of this it's normally too expensive for them.
Public liability insurance would not cover the OP for this either0 -
Still waiting for the Police to take our statements and no Solicitor wants to touch this case... Not looking good at the moment!0

You may have legal cover on your house or car insurance0

Can't see why a solicitor wouldn't want the case, are you going in as a fee paying client?
Have you spoken to a solicitor in person? What did they say?
If you haven't spoken to one yet, you may be able to get an initial consultation free of charge and then pay for action, the cost of which you wold seek to recover from the garage
Although to be fair, did I read that the garage owner had asked you to call? Because of they have, you have nothing to loose by calling, I would call them, hear them out and see what they say. You can also lay your claim to the car and that you are actively taking action to have the car returned and will be seeking all costs incurred. If you can record the conversation as well0 -
Yes, but OP, have YOU reported the theft of YOUR money ?. The Police should then open a case against the dealer. This action may well concentrate the dealers mind when he comes to realise that he is being investigated for theft/fraud/obtaining money by deception.Never Knowingly Understood.
