Bought car from dealer who then reported it stolen!!

    Exactly! The whole thing just doesn't ring true to us. We are convinced that there is more to this but have got to wait for the police to do their thing. In the mean time, we shall seek legal advice.

    What sort of 'dealer' insists on being paid in cash for a secondhand car? Didn't that ring any alarm bells?

    Oh ok, my mistake, though you meant something else. £4500 - hardly a life changing amount of money to someone on the nick, but its a lot of money to me now i havent got the car and need to get to work every day!

    Did you pay your deposit via credit card ? or even some of the new maestro cards as your card provider might be able to help.

    Also did you take out legal cover on your car insurance? This might be a god send for you right now. If so make a call to them and see what they say about the situation.

    Why would he need to complain! The police are only acting on information received and at the moment, until it's fully been investigated, the information they've got is that it's stolen.
