I don't think that any statistics is available, but my impression is that the proportion of iPhone owners that cannot afford it is much higher than for any other phone - simply because this good, but overpriced device became a "flash status symbol" as somebody said in a recent post here. And vicer-versa: it remains overpriced because it became a "status symbol".0 -

Overpriced is a relative term because it suggests you can get something comparable. However, you can't buy a device from any other manufacturer with iOS on it, nor can you install any of the app store apps on anything other than an iOS device, nor can you sync with iTunes in the same way an iPhone can. in that respect, the iPhone isn't overpriced, unless you are happy to live without those things.0 -
thegoodman and my exeperience last night has now convinced me to buy an iphone.
I settled down for the evening and innocently placed my shiny Acer Liquid Metal (Android 2.3.7 - which will hardly run any apps but hey ho!) next to me.
Barely had I opened my 16th can of Special Brew when my phone started to make a strange hum. As I sat looking it got louder....I became entranced.....then it started flashing.....then horror of horrors my phone flew at me. I dodged and it smashed into the wall.
Startled I turned round, expecting to see the remains of my phone. Instead I watched, bowels losening, as the remains of my phone morphed into thousands of tiny green androids. This was my cue to leave the house.
I spent 14 cold hours hiding behind an Apple tree (praise them!) until I ventured the courage to enter the house. No sign of the dog, the cat or the androids.
I had a lucky escape. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE get rid of your android phones in case this happens to you.0 -

Are you sure it was not one of the malware apps installed?0 -

You are both correct, I did not choose not to have an iphone because of the price (I already understand handsets are expensive) just that it did not appeal. But yes some handsets are only owned thanks to the purchase as you go made available via contracts.0 -
mrochester wrote: »Yeah that was a blip. They're back to over $600 a piece now. I also believe Apple became the largest smartphone vendor in the world in the last quarter, and they continue to take an increasing share of the industry profits. I don't think there's any doubt that Apple are increasingly successful.

Market share wise, iphone closes in on Android after release of 4S, but Android still lead the market share. need to wait for report for Jan-March 2012 to see the latest market share.0 -

The Siri on iPhone 4 was limited in functions. It was not linked to calendar, telephone, text messaging and other functions within the iPhone.
Non iPhone 4s users can you Evi other name for Siri which does the same job as the siri on iPhone 4and 3GS .
From your post I can see that only phone you think 100% perfect is Android devices, not seen you making one negative comment about Android. All Android religion members must visit the site below

Even an iphone 4/ipad user is being called an 'android religion members' (as per thegoodman) just because he said something that does not seems to be in favour of iphone.....0 -

I'm quite surprised that a moderator hasn't banned him yet,
He provides no benefit to the forum that I can see, his advice is always a rehash of what someone else has said.
Then you got the constant apple/google war that he has going on, often providing misleading information to new members and even scaremongering them.0 -
It's incorrect. Android do have higher malwareThe price of iPhone is not expensive than high end Android phones when purchased sim free
The Galaxy Nexus and Galaxy II when relesed were around £500.
Sony Xperia S is around £420 to £450
HTC One X is going to have the start price of £500.
Whey do HTC and Samsung need to have higher price for som colours than others, its the same phone? Some are over £50 more.
The iphone 4S at £500 hold its price where other phones start to go down in price over a few months from the relese. This might be the reason wehy 2nd prices are cheaper for other phones.0 -
Yes, they are around £500, but they come with 32Gb and with 24-month warranty.
So, is £599+£61=£660 really not expensive compared to £450-£500?
Either you have serious problems with maths or 50%ish difference is not big enough for you.
If you add a 32Gb memory card the difference gets even bigger: £760 V £500-£550.
The prices go down? Fine. Unlike Apple fanboys I will not queue over night to buy it. I can wait for a few months and I don't care about the 2nd hand prices because I am not going to change my handset every 1-2 years.0
