Since when did google release new android version every few months?
Froyo has been the main version for about 2 years with gingerbread in between with very small improvement. ICS came out 2 years after Froyo at least. Don't bring honeycomb into the picture as its only for tablet.... iOS release their version every year.... Does that means iOS is more imperfect than Android?
BTW, despite iOS being available to older iphone, iOS 4 killed my wife's iphone 3G, iOS5 killed my friend's iphone 3GS. It is all good making newer version available for older phones but what is the point when the phone start to lag with the new version?0 -
Now now, lets not start a mac vs pc discussion.
I don't know why you have it in your head that Android needs faster hardware to run, it doesn't; and your reasoning is flawed as well. Linux proves your reasoning and your initial thought process wrong.
My only aim with my question was for chester to answer as to why, if as he says, iOS runs soooo smoothly and hardware is a distant second concern in todays smartphone market did apple feel the need to push a minor upgrade??
The Xperia P has pretty powerful hardware yet it still lags. Why is this the case if it's not because of poorly optimise software?
And with regards to the 4S, as the OS and apps become more complex, you need more powerful hardware to run them well.0 -
As the OS and apps become more complex, you need more powerful hardware, maybe sony didnt realise this. Please refer to the other part of your post below.
The Xperia P is a newly released product. Why are they releasing a product that lags so much?0 -

This question should be directed at Sony rather than Google's Android I supposed? HTC One V and Samsung Galaxy Ace are both entry level android phone and they both do not lag when I tried them in store.0 -

It doesn't matter who we ask, they're still releasing crap loads of rubbish products. It reflects really badly on Google since they're letting manufacturers get away with this nonsense instead I putting their foot down and requiring minimum specifications etc so that ALL Android devices are a lag free experience rather than practically none. The business model as it stands allows these crappy products to be made.0 -

Are we to assume the concept of open source software is unfamiliar to you?0 -

mrochester wrote: »No it's just as a consumer it means I have to make loads of compromises for no gain. There is nothing about Android being open source that benefits me as a consumer.
The wide variety of devices running Android at all Price points clearly demonstrates there is.0 -

Most - sweeping generalisation.0
